Mark Wahlberg’s Latest Acting Role: Las Vegas Gym Operator

Mark Wahlberg announced on Instagram on Friday that his latest gift to his new hometown is a new gym. Named Municipal Gym Fitness and Recovery, after the actor’s sportswear company, it will be located in Summerlin, the tony northwestern Vegas suburb that Wahlberg and his family have called home for two years.

“OK, the lease is signed,” Wahlberg said, standing in front of the building in the Downtown Summerlin shopping mall where the gym will be housed. “It’s actually happening.”

But while Wahlberg’s message promises that “we will be training together” and “I am going to document all of your success,” Wahlberg actually has better things to do than be your personal trainer.

Don’t Mark His Word

The gym will be operated by EoD, a rapidly growing chain with 150 locations across several states, including two in Las Vegas already. Wahlberg is most likely an investor who will stop by once or twice a year for photo ops. (This was the agreement he struck with F45 Training in 2019.)

The new gym will feature juice bars, cafes, retail and apparel, and vitamins and supplements.

“This will be the first time in history that luxury and serious fitness meet,” Wahlberg said in his video.

Since moving to Las Vegas in 2022, Wahlberg opened a new restaurant in Town Square, Flecha Cantina, and has thrown his support behind one of two Hollywood film studios proposed for construction in Las Vegas. He has spoken in favor of Sony’s project, though not a competing studio proposed by Warner Bros.
