UPDATE: False-Alarm Shooting Inside Circus Circus Sparks ‘Panic’

UPDATE: Las Vegas police said reports of a shooting on Saturday evening at Circus Circus’ Adventuredome were unfounded.

“Detectives learned that a fight broke out inside of the venue, causing numerous individuals to run out of the property,” they said in a statement. “This caused panic amongst the crowd and several other fights broke out outside of the property.”

About a dozen patrol cars responded to the call of possible shots fired, which went out at 5:38 p.m.

Circus Circus was immediately evacuated. Guests of the hotel were allowed back to their rooms around 8 p.m., through others were turned away.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), officers responded to “preliminary reports of shots fired in the 2900 block of Las Vegas Boulevard.”

As of 6:09 p.m., police reported that “no victims have been located.” They have issued no updates since.

However, reliable Twitter news source @lasvegaslocally quotes a law enforcement source saying that multiple “juvenile fights” started inside the Adventuredome theme park, then spread throughout the property, though no evidence of any shots fired has turned up so far.

The Strip hotel has been evacuated and “there is a heavy police presence in the area.”
