Saskatchewan Extends SIGA Online Gaming Exclusivity to 2029

Saskatchewan has extended the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority’s (SIGA) exclusive right to operate the province’s regulated online gaming market until September 2029, while approving a First Nations gaming centre pilot project featuring up to 49 slot machines.

The government of Saskatchewan and the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) announced a deal that includes an amendment to their Gaming Framework Agreement (GFA). FSIN is the political organization that represents the province’s 74 First Nations.

Online Exclusivity Extended Again

“Our government has built a successful gaming industry in Saskatchewan in partnership with the FSIN through good-faith negotiation and incremental change,” said Jeremy Harrison, minister responsible for Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan.

This past June, SIGA announced in its annual report for the 2025-26 fiscal year that total wagers generated from PlayNow.com were $804 million, with $31.59 million in Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR). Since its launch in 2022, PlayNow.com has acquired more than 59,000 sign-ups, according to the report.

PlayNow’s Strong Growth

The gaming center pilot is approved to include up to 49 slot machines and will be located on Flying Dust First Nation, part of a larger development plan that will include a strip mall, hotel, and conference center.

“The project will be an important part of a new hotel development that will better serve the people of Meadow Lake and northwest Saskatchewan,” said FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron. “Importantly, the benefits of this growth will extend beyond the host community, with the First Nations’ share of gaming profits distributed equitably among Saskatchewan First Nations throughout Treaty 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10 territories.”

Slot Allocation Climbs Higher

The latest amendment to the GFA also increases SIGA’s slot machine allocation by 49 to a total of 2,619 machines.

SIGA, created by the province’s First Nations and launched in 1996, operates seven casinos in the province, offering slot machines, live table games, electronic table games, live entertainment and an array of lounges and restaurants.

PlayNow.com is the only legally operated iGaming site in Saskatchewan.
