MGM Grand Las Vegas Announces David Copperfield Replacement

According to the MGM Grand, it takes four magicians to replace David Copperfield. That’s how many will fill the stage in Now You See Me Live, a new live show based on the three-part movie franchise of the same name. The show — a touring version of which has performed to sold-out crowds in Australia and Singapore — will run in the former David Copperfield Theater from Oct. 15, 2026 through at least Jan. 5, 2027.

Created by the producers of the successful touring show The Illusionists, Now You See Me Live show will feature four real-life magicians billed as the “Four Horsemen,” a nod to the characters from the 2013 heist-thriller. (Now You See Me starred Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, and Dave Franco as magicians who perform bank heists and corporate exposures, distributing the loot back to their audiences while outsmarting the FBI.)

The show at the MGM Grand is designed to simulate a performance that the Four Horsemen would have given if they were real.

The stars, who skills do not line up perfectly with the cinematic Four Horsemen, are:

  • Italian world champion escape artist Andrew Basso
  • American sleight-of-hand expert Adam Trent
  • French large-scale illusionist Enzo Weyne
  • Canada’s Gabriella Lester, a second escapologist

“The incredible illusionists we’ve carefully selected as the Four Horsemen will push the boundaries of stage magic to the absolute edge,” said producer Simon Painter in a statement. “They come from around the globe, combining their grand feats of illusion to create a show with truly mind-blowing artistry.”

Organizers said the production will also include a rotating roster of special guests.

Copperfield — who was reportedly contracted and booked to perform through July 2026 — officially “chose” to end his 25-year Las Vegas residency on April 30, 2026. However, his announcement came just weeks after the U.S. Department of Justice released a massive trove of Epstein files that mentioned Copperfield by name tens of thousands of times.

While the MGM Grand’s leadership released standard corporate statements thanking the magician for his historic run and celebrating his final performance, the resort had already begun removing his massive promotional wrap from the building two months before — heavily suggesting a corporate desire to distance the brand from the escalating PR crisis.

Indeed, Copperfield’s achievement could have been honored by keeping his name on the property’s theater. However, the space is now called just the MGM Grand Theater. (Prior to being rebranded the David Copperfield Theater in 2013, it was known as the MGM Grand Hollywood Theater.)
