Prediction markets are moving deeper into live sports as the industry’s two biggest players team up with Genius Sports to enhance the trader experience with live streaming capabilities and real-time data directly from the leagues.

Genius, the global leader in real-time sports data, is partnered with more than 1,000 sports organizations worldwide, including the NFL, English Premier League, and the NCAA.

“Prediction markets are emerging as an important new way for fans to engage with live sports,” said Sean Conroy, EVP of Rights and Partnerships at Genius Sports.

Genius explains that using real-time official league data will improve the settlement process for sports event contracts on prediction markets by increasing transparency and reducing dependence on unofficial or delayed data sources.

Promoting Sports Trading Integrity

Kalshi and Polymarket both said their partnerships with Genius Sports are focused on strengthening the integrity of sports contract trading. Calling the data and live streaming content “integrity services,” the prediction markets, in separate press releases, described how the Genius feeds will better protect traders.

“Trust, transparency and innovation are fundamental to the long-term development of sports prediction markets,” said Ari Borod, President of Sports Business Development at Polymarket. “Live streaming, official data, and integrity infrastructure play an important role in establishing an engaging product that customers can depend on.”

“As the prediction market ecosystem continues to expand at a rapid pace, the use of official data and integrity services is more important than ever,” said Adam Barrick, Head of Sports Partnerships at Kalshi.

“We’re proud to partner with Genius Sports, with their proven track record in providing the highest quality sports data and working alongside leagues to protect the transparency of sporting competitions,” Barrick added.

To further combat sports fixing, Polymarket and Kalshi will share their trading information regarding sports markets with Genius Sports. That will provide the leagues and governing bodies with greater insights into real-time trading activity.

The arrangement will help better detect suspicious trading, which could indicate match fixing or the unlawful dissemination of confidential information regarding a game or player.

Sports Prediction Markets

Unlike traditional sports betting, where the bettor bets against the book, prediction markets allow traders to buy and sell shares of sports outcomes among themselves.

For instance, player A is willing to pay 40 cents a share that the Los Angeles Dodgers will win the 2026 World Series, while another trader purchases the other side for 60 cents. If the Dodgers win, the “yes” position redeems at $1 per share.

Critics of sports prediction markets say platforms’ peer-to-peer claims aren’t entirely accurate, as real human traders often compete against large financial institutions. Dubbed market makers, such companies provide liquidity to prediction markets by offering to take the other side of a customer’s trade.
