Fanatics Unveils All-in-One App Combining Sportsbook and Prediction Markets

Key Points

  • Fanatics Betting and Gaming has integrated sports betting, casino gaming, and prediction markets into a single mobile app, becoming the latest wagering operator to adopt a unified platform strategy
  • The updated platform, dubbed Fanatics Sports & Casino, replaces the company's standalone products to streamline user access across all three verticals
  • Users can earn FanCash on wagers and trades, which can be redeemed for sports merchandise, apparel, and trading cards

Fanatics launched a consolidated sports betting, casino, and prediction market app Thursday, embracing a single-platform “super-app” strategy to streamline its wagering operations.

The launch of Fanatics Sports & Casino comes just weeks after Fanatics agreed to acquire a regulated exchange and clearinghouse from BGC Group. The deal allows the company to bring its prediction market infrastructure in-house and expand its event contracts.

“Fanatics Sports & Casino brings the full Fanatics gaming and prediction markets experience together in one place. Fans get the Fanatics Sportsbook, the fastest-growing sportsbook in America, in 23 states plus Washington D.C.; Fanatics Casino in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan & West Virginia; and Fanatics Markets, the company’s federally regulated event contracts platform, in 22 states & four (4) territories across the country,” according to a statement issued by the company.

Fanatics announced the launch of the super app just days after the company joined rivals DraftKings and FanDuel as an official sports betting partner of the NFL.

Super Apps Are All the Rage

The all-in-one app model mirrors trends in modern fintech, where platforms like Robinhood offer banking, credit cards, retirement accounts, and trading under a single roof.

Prediction market and sports betting operators are increasingly hip to those benefits. For example, DraftKings rolled out its own super app earlier this year.

Unlike DraftKings and Fanatics, which are well-known online sportsbooks and rapidly growing in the prediction market space, many of the iGaming/sports betting-centric operators don’t currently offer an iteration of the super app concept.

Fanatics Markets, that company’s prediction markets platform, debuted last December via a partnership with Crypto.com. That platform is available in multiple states that do not permit sports wagering, including California and Texas.

With Super App, Fanatics Is Leveraging Loyalty

As more super apps appear on the prediction market and sports wagering scenes, it’s on operators to differentiate themselves from competitors. Fanatics has an avenue for accomplishing that objective by leveraging its Fanatics One loyalty plan and the FanCash program.

FanCash launched three years ago, allowing Fanatics bettors to convert that “currency” into bonus bets and merchandise. The company highlighted expansion of FanCash by way of the super app.

“Customers can then redeem their FanCash on what matters most to them as fans. No other operator can connect a Sunday parlay, trade or spin to an official game-day jersey, signed rookie cards, vintage Mitchell & Ness and beyond, and that difference is the foundation of the new app,” according to the statement.

As the boundaries between sports betting, casual gaming, and retail trading continue to blur, Fanatics is betting that a single, unified platform will be the key to keeping users in its ecosystem.
