Anima by EDO has been named the best new restaurant in the US by Yelp for 2023, the platform announced Wednesday. The Spanish fusion restaurant topped a list of 25 restaurants in 14 states.
According to Yelp, its winners — all opened between Jan. 1, 2022, and Aug. 7, 2023, with passing health scores as of August 7 — were ranked by factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews.
Anima by Edo was opened at 9205 W. Russell Road, in southwest Las Vegas, by previous James Beard Awards finalist Chef Oscar Amador in January 2022.
Also making the same Yelp list was Martha Stewart’s Paris Las Vegas spot, The Bedford, which ranked No. 22.
Dining Ins & Outs
In other Yelp ranking news, its 2023 list of top cheeseburgers in every state identified Nevada’s as served not by a burger joint but Eggslut inside the Cosmopolitan.
According to the organization’s inspection report, the Southern Nevada Health District closed Tacos de Guiso at 2640 E. Tropicana Ave. on November 15. This was followed on November 18 by its closure of Tacos La Carreta at 9010 W. Flamingo Road.
Bourbon St. Parade, a New Orleans-themed bar, shuttered on November 22, a little more than a month after opening at the Grand Bazaar Shops in front of the Horseshoe Las Vegas. No explanation was offered, as the establishment’s website, where such explanations are usually posted, quickly vanished from the internet.
The DDT Bar, which recently closed up shop in Brooklyn, apparently did so to move to 124 S. 6th St. in downtown Las Vegas, according to What Now Vegas.
