Super Bowl Beer Map: What Each States Are Drinking 

When it comes to a game as intense as the Super Bowl, there’s one thing fans can agree on: cracking open a cold beer to enjoy the game. Super Bowl LIX is set to draw over 100 million viewers, all stocked up with their favorite brews. According to our research, 81% of NFL fans will be drinking beer during the game – so what exactly will they be sipping as the Eagles and Chiefs battle it out? 

To find out, we surveyed 4,000 NFL fans across the country about their beer preferences and drinking habits. Here’s what we discovered about each state’s go-to Super Bowl brew. 

Key findings: 

  • Bud Light is America’s top Super Bowl beer, ranking #1 in 13 states 
  • Corona Extra takes second place (9 states), followed by Modelo in third (6 states
  • 81% of NFL fans will be drinking beer during the Super Bowl 
  • On average, NFL fans will consume 4 beers on game day 
  • Fans will spend an average of $63 on alcohol during the Super Bowl 
  • 75% more NFL fans drink alcohol when their team wins compared to when they lose 

Game Day Favorites: The Most Popular Beer Across the Nation 

With 36% of respondents planning to host their own Super Bowl party this year, there’s no doubt they’ll be stocking up on beer for the occasion. When asked if they’ll be enjoying beer on game day, a whopping 81% said yes. So, let’s dive into the map and see which beer brand each state will be reaching for this Super Bowl. 

Taking the #1 spot as the nation’s go-to Super Bowl beer this year is Bud Light, winning over 13 states – including Kansas, Louisiana, Texas, and of course, Missouri, where it all began. Looks like fans are raising a cold one to tradition! 

Coming in at #2, we’ve got Corona Extra, the top pick in 9 states, including Delaware, Oregon, and Washington. Not far behind, Modelo, hailing from Mexico City, claims third place with 6 states raising a glass in its honor. Fans in California, Michigan, Nevada, and Tennessee will be sipping on a crisp Corona this game day – someone pass the limes! 

In terms of the least favorites, Beck’s takes the bottom spot, with just 2.2% of votes, followed by Natural Light at 3.3%, and Busch at 5.2%. 

When it comes to the final showdown, 66% of Missourians (home of the Kansas City Chiefs!) will be cracking open beers for the Super Bowl. 31% say they’ll drink more and party harder if their team wins, compared to 0% who admitted they’d drink more if the Chiefs lose. On average, they’ll be enjoying about 5 beers on game day. 

Over in Pennsylvania (home to the Philadelphia Eagles), 68% will be sipping on beers during the game, but only 21% would drink more if their team wins. The rest, about 43%, say they’re pretty much sticking to their game day routine, win or lose. Pennsylvanians will also be enjoying around 5 beers each, on par with Missouri.  

A Look at America’s Super Bowl Beer Habits: 

A whopping 81% of NFL fans say they’ll be cracking open their favorite beer during the Super Bowl, and when asked if they’d drink more if their team was playing, 72% of fans said “yes”.  On average, folks are planning to spend about $63 on alcohol, and sipping on around 4 beers as the game unfolds. 

As it stands, 30% of fans will throw an even bigger party and drink more if their team wins, and 56% will be hosting their own Super Bowl bash. Looks like it’s time to stock up on the brews.
