Today’s Featured Cocktail We’re Not Sure We Loved

Sometimes, you try a cocktail and fall directly in love with it. In the case of the Mozart, from Art Bar at the newly-opened Downtown Grand, we’re not sure the chemistry is there just yet.

But, gosh, it sure is pretty.

We came. We drank. We thought it was meh.

The Mozart specialty cocktail is made with Ketel One vodka, Midori liqueur and a splash of pineapple.

This cocktail has an almost Jolly Rancher quality to it, and while we didn’t fall head over heels, different strokes and all that. We’re probably just not a Midori liqueur person.

If you don’t find the Mozart to your liking, Art Bar (named that because of the decorative art on the ceiling of the bar) has several other signature cocktails you might try.

Disliking a cocktail is a great excuse to try another.

We keep returning to Downtown Grand because we want to love it. It’s new. It’s downtown. These are a few of our favorite things. But our food was just all right, and the odds for gamblers isn’t as good as most downtown haunts. Even the shaved ice wasn’t all that great.

We’ll keep trying, though. Downtown Grand is still, technically, in a soft opening phase. It officially opens Nov. 12, 2013 (11/12/13).

Let us know if your experiences differ from ours. We love the look and feel of Downtown Grand, we just want the substance to keep pace with the form.
