  • A new lawsuit alleges the Strat ejected a lesbian couple for a public display of affection in 2024

  • The legal complaint cites discrimination, negligence, and inadequate employee training by Strat owner Golden Entertainment

A new lawsuit alleges that a lesbian couple was subjected to discrimination, battery, and negligence at the Strat casino hotel in Las Vegas two years ago. According to the suit, filed in Clark County District Court on March 10, California residents Brianne Garcia and Lelannie Dominguez were ejected from the property and physically injured by security on May 3, 2024, after showing “affectionate” behavior at an on-site bar.

According to the legal complaint — first reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal — a waitress approached the couple because they were being “too affectionate,” instructing them to stop. Garcia and Dominguez expressed that they felt singled out due to their sexual orientation and gender, prompting the waitress to summon a manager who then ordered their removal from the premises.

According to the plaintiffs, the situation escalated when a security guard escorted them toward the elevators in an “aggressive and confrontational” manner. The couple began recording the interaction on their phones, at which point they claim they were “physically battered” by the guard.

The lawsuit asserts that both women suffered serious and disabling injuries to their bodies and minds as a result of the altercation.

The suit names The Strat and its parent company, Golden Entertainment, as defendants. It includes multiple causes of action: negligence, battery, discrimination in a place of public accommodation, and negligent hiring, training, and supervision. The couple’s legal team argues that the casino failed to adequately train staff to handle such interactions without bias or excessive force.

Seeking damages exceeding $15,000 — the standard civil threshold in Nevada — the plaintiffs request compensation for medical expenses and lost wages. While the incident occurred nearly two years ago, the formal litigation was only recently initiated.

Representatives for Golden Entertainment and The Strat have not released a public statement regarding the allegations.
