Tom Alexandrovich, the Israeli official arrested in Las Vegas in a child sex sting last month, appeared in court for the first time Wednesday. He appeared remotely via Zoom before Henderson Justice Court Chief Judge Barbara Schifalacqua, who approved the virtual arraignment last week.

Alexandrovich, 38, faces a felony charge of luring a child with a computer for a sex act — a crime punishable under Nevada law by 1-10 years in prison.
A day after his arrest on Aug. 6, Alexandrovich posted $10,000 bail at the Henderson Detention Center and flew back to Israel.
This stoked outrage from critics who claim that local officials should have confiscated his passport and who suspect the US government of intervening on behalf of Israel — a charge denied by both governments.
In court, Judge Schifalacqua explained that Alexandrovich, who does not have diplomatic immunity, had posted “standard bail” — a preset amount allowing defendants to waive a probable cause hearing. (While standard bail itself does not explicitly permit leaving the country without review, the enforcement of travel restrictions can vary, and defendants typically need court approval for international travel to comply with bail conditions.)
Judge Schifalacqua ordered Alexandrovich not to have contact with minors, and not to use social media or apps for dating.
Alexandrovich did not speak in court, according to coverage by KLAS-TV/Las Vegas, other than confirming his comprehension of the restrictions placed on him.
Judge Schifalacqua emphasized the gravity of the charges, stating: “This court can’t underscore the serious nature of the offense alleged here and carrying the weight that it does regarding a potential sentence.”
According to police documents seen by KLAS-TV/Las Vegas, Alexandrovich believed he was arranging to meet a 15-year-old girl — though Alexandrovich insisted he believed she was 18. He allegedly brought a condom to the meeting location and intended to begin the evening by taking the minor to a Cirque du Soleil show.
The defendant’s next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Oct. 6.
