Ontario iGaming Revenue Hits New High in December

The onset of holiday season didn’t seem to slow down gambling tendencies among Ontarians, with the latest igaming market financial data for December showing another month-over-month record in non-adjusted gross gaming revenue (NAGGR).

December’s financial igaming numbers for Canada’s most populous province again further cemented Ontario as one of the world’s largest regulated markets by GGR.
According to data released by iGaming Ontario, the government agency that conducts and manages the regulated online gaming market in the province, total cash wagers was CAD $9.501 billion in December, a two per cent increase from November’s record $9.33 billion.
Over $425 Million in Revenues
Total NAGGR for the month was $425.4 million, another record for Ontario, a five per cent month-over-month increase.
Active player accounts were down a little – two per cent, compared to November, at 1,276. The average revenue per active player account was $334, up seven per cent.
Casino again dominated the market in December – $8.270 billion in cash wagers, 87% market share, a four per cent increase compared to November. Sports betting was at $1.089 billion, an 11 per cent market share, a 13 per cent month-over-month decrease. Peer-to-peer poker was up nine per cent – $141 million in cash wagers, for a one per cent market share.
Canadian Gaming: Casino Dominates
On the revenue side, casino scored $320.5 million, an eight per cent month-over-month increase, for a 75% market share. Sports betting was at $99.1 million in monthly revenue, a three per cent decrease compared to November, for a 23% market share. Peer-to-peer poker was at $5.8 million in revenue, a seven per cent month-over-month decrease, for a one per cent market share.

As of this morning, after taking a quick scan of the iGaming Ontario site, there are 48 licensed operators, 82 gaming websites in the province.
