Ontario iGaming Revenue Hits New High in December

The onset of the holiday season didn’t seem to slow down gambling tendencies among Ontarians, with the latest iGaming market financial data for December showing another month-over-month record in non-adjusted gross gaming revenue (NAGGR).

December’s financial igaming numbers for Canada’s most populous province again further cemented Ontario as one of the world’s largest regulated markets by GGR.

According to data released by iGaming Ontario, the government agency that conducts and manages the regulated online gaming market in the province, total cash wagers were CA$9.501 billion in December, a 2% increase from November’s record $9.33 billion.

More Than $425 Million in Revenues

Total NAGGR for the month was $425.4 million, another record for Ontario, a 5% month-over-month increase.

In 2025, the Ontario private market generated just over $98 billion in handle, $4 billion in operators’ combined NAGGR. Twenty per cent of private operator revenue goes back to the province as tax.

Active player accounts were down a little – 2%, compared to November, at 1,276. The average revenue per active player account was $334, up 7%.

Casino again dominated the market in December with $8.27 billion in cash wagers and an 87% market share, a 4% increase compared to November. Sports betting was at $1.089 billion, an 11% market share, a 13% month-over-month decrease. Peer-to-peer poker was up 9% — $141 million in cash wagers, for a 1% market share.

Canadian Gaming: Casino Dominates

On the revenue side, casino scored $320.5 million, an 8% month-over-month increase, for a 75% market share. Sports betting was at $99.1 million in monthly revenue, a 3% decrease compared to November, for a 23% market share. Peer-to-peer poker was at $5.8 million in revenue, a 7% month-over-month decrease, for a 1% market share.

As of Thursday morning, there are 48 licensed operators and 82 gaming websites in the province.
