The Wynn Macau is the lesser-known Wynn resort. There are two Wynn resorts in Las Vegas, and two in Macau, China (called Wynn Macau and Encore).

This Wynn resort upholds the same high standards as the ones in Las Vegas. Not only does it offer luxurious hotel rooms and suites, but it also houses a fancy casino, four fine dining restaurants, and many high-end retail stores, including Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss, Prada, Rolex, and Versace.

History

Wynn Macau is the second Wynn property to open. It was introduced to the public on September 6, 2006. Only a little more than a year later, the hotel expanded to include more gaming space, restaurants, and retail shops.

In 2008, Wynn Macau received the Mobil Five-Star award. This is a big honor, because only five hotels in Asia have this award.

Lodging

You will get to choose between 1,014 rooms and suites at Wynn Macau. There are four different kinds of rooms:

Deluxe Room: Comes with king or double beds and a spacious bathroom with a soaking tub

Grand Deluxe Room: A 600 square foot room with private check-in service, king or double beds, a soaking tub, and a flat screen TV

One-Bedroom Suite: A 2,000 square foot suite with a separate bedroom, spacious living quarters, a dining area, a bar, a private massage room, and a spacious bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub

Two-Bedroom Suite: A 3,000 square foot bedroom suite with “his” and “hers” bathrooms for each bedroom, a large living room with a bar, a massage room, a media room, a dining room, and 24-hour butler service

Gambling

Wynn Macau’s casino contains about 500 gaming tables and 375 slot machines. Most people believe that Wynn Macau houses one of the largest casino floors in the world at a whooping 205,000 square feet, but the reality is that most of that space is for other things that are considered to be part of the gaming floor, like retail stores, restaurants, a spa, and bars. The casino itself has limited space that is adorned with gold.

Attractions & Entertainment

Spa: The spa & salon here offers everything you could think of: a hair and nail salon, a five-star spa with a Jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna, a fitness center, and a pool with cabanas.

Restaurants: There are four fine dining restaurants, four casual dining restaurants, and three bars and lounges on the Wynn premises.

Shops: At Wynn Macau, a whooping 26,000 square feet of retail space contains only high-end stores like Bulgari, Gucci, Chanel, Hermes, and Hugo Boss.

Attractions: You can enjoy several different attractions at Wynn Macau: the Tree of Prosperity (a tree with “dancing” lights), the Dragon of Fortune (a sculpture with lighting and audio effects), the Moon Jellyfish Aquarium, and Performance Lake (with dancing water, colors, and fire).

Art gallery: This art gallery features high-end art pieces, such as the Buccleuch Vases, the Crystal Dragon, and a Louis Rigal drawing.

Swimming pool: The heated swimming pool is located in the courtyard at Wynn Macau.

Why Wynn Macau Gets 3 Stars

Ideally, this hotel would earn a solid 5 stars because of its luxurious nature, but we are actually judging it based on the number of rooms, the gambling facilities, the location, attractions, and entertainment. While Wynn Macau is in a great location and offers ample hotel rooms and suites, it is pretty lacking in other areas, especially the casino. The casino, shops, and attractions are clearly designed for high-rollers and VIPs. A typical tourist would feel out of place here.
