Mötley Crüe needs a kickstart in the box office. Ticket sales for its upcoming 10-show residency at Park MGM’s Dolby Live are so bad, fans of the ’80s glam metal band are worried about a cancellation.

Drummer Tommy Lee, guitarist John 5 (Mick Mars’ replacement), singer Vince Neil and bassist Nikki Sixx delayed their third Las Vegas residency by six months.  Now, tickets sales are stalled. (Image: MGM Resorts International)

As of Aug. 27, a third of Dolby Live’s 5,200 tickets are still unclaimed on Ticketmaster for the residency’s opening night, Friday, Sept. 12. For most midweek shows, more than half are still available. And that’s after being on sale since last October.

“There are still a ton of tickets available for the Las Vegas shows,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “Who thinks they’ll make an excuse to cancel?”

Another fan answered: “It might be the casino/promoter pulling any out clause. Even at half price, tix don’t seem to be moving. Or blame Vince’s health while he still does dimestore Crue shows in casinos a hundred miles from any airport.”

This will be Mötley Crüe’s third residency, following stints at the (original) Hard Rock Hotel in 2012 and 2013.

The residency was already postponed. It was supposed to take place in March and April, but was rescheduled because of a medical procedure that singer Vince Neil was reportedly required to undergo, the nature of which was never disclosed.

Bruno Mars just announced that he will celebrate his seventh New Year’s Eve at the very same venue. Since his first NYE performance there in 2016, he’s only missed marking the calendar change in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Mars is currently performing a nine-show residency through Sept. 6. Last Friday, he marked his 100th show at Dolby Live, which opened as the Park Theater until finding a naming sponsor in October 2021.

Mars’ Dec. 30-31 dates go on sale 10 a.m. PT Friday, Aug. 28 via Ticketmaster.
