UPDATE: Kelly Clarkson‘s ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, has died from cancer, according to multiple sources. This explains why the singer canceled the four remaining August dates of her Caesars Palace residency on Wednesday. Blackstock, who was privately battling cancer for three years, was 48.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” a spokesperson for Blackstock said in a statement. “He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”
EARLIER: Kelly Clarkson has announced she is postponing the four remaining August dates of her Caesars Palace residency because her ex-husband and former manager, Brandon Blackstock, has been suffering from an undisclosed illness for several months.

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” Clarkson announced on X. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
The affected dates of Clarkson’s “Studio Sessions” residency at the Colosseum are Aug. 8, 9, 15 and 16. The singer is not scheduled to return to Las Vegas again until November.
There is no indication whether the latest canceled shows will be rescheduled yet. Either way, full refunds are expected to be issued at point of purchase.
Clarkson also postponed the first two dates of the residency, blaming vocal strain from rehearsals — only 90 minutes before the first was set to begin.
Poor Jenny’s Vacant Block

Jennifer Lopez is experiencing a different problem with her Caesars Palace residency — and it’s at the box office.
The multi-hyphenate entertainer grossed $101.9 million for her “All I Have” residency, which ran at Planet Hollywood from 2016-18, placing her eleventh on Casino.org’s list of all-time highest-earning Las Vegas residencies.
That residency’s final show in 2018 set a box office record for the venue of $1.17 million and made J.Lo the fastest performer on the Strip to sell $100 million worth of tickets.
Yet seven years later, at least a third of the tickets for her “Up All Night Live in Las Vegas” Caesars mini-residency of only nine performances — three New Year’s Eve spectacles and six March dates — remain unsold at Ticketmaster. And they’ve been on sale since June 6.
That’s across all sections, and the available tickets start at $121.
In contrast, Dolly Parton’s two-week engagement at the same venue were all snapped up in 24 hours and now fetch up to $10,00 each on the reseller market.
According to the New York Post, J.Lo had been negotiating last year with MGM Resorts and Live Nation to play 90 dates at the Park Theater (now Dolby Live) at the Park MGM. But those negotiations were quietly scrapped after Lopez was forced to cancel her entire summer tour of the US last year due to poor ticket sales.
