Boyd Gaming’s Valley Forge Casino Resort in Pennsylvania is bringing the funny to its King of Prussia property.

On Monday, Valley Forge Casino Resort announced a partnership with the acclaimed Stress Factory Comedy Club. Beginning Friday, July 11, the Valley Forge casino property will become the third Stress Factory Comedy Club location to complement its New Jersey and Connecticut venues.
Martha Morales, vice president and general manager of Valley Forge Casino Resort, said the comedy club is part of the property’s “ongoing transformation” and “commitment to providing memorable experiences to our customers.”
The Stress Factory Comedy Club originated in New Jersey’s New Brunswick, a city along the Raritan River some 30 miles southwest of New York City. Manhattan is among the biggest cities for standup, with A-listers and legends performing regularly at such iconic venues as the Comedy Cellar, Comic Strip, and Gotham. Stress’ relative location to NYC allows the club to regularly pull marquee acts south to New Brunswick.
Stress Factory NJ was where Greg Giraldo, on Sept. 24, 2010, performed his final show before overdosing on prescription pills later that night in his New Jersey hotel room. Giraldo died five days later.
Rural Philly Standup
Valley Forge Casino Resort sits near the Philadelphia Main Line in King of Prussia. Owned and operated since Boyd Gaming acquired the property in 2018 for $281 million, the 36K-square-foot casino has 850 slot machines, 50 live dealer table games, and a FanDuel Sportsbook.
As for the resort, Valley Forge features five restaurants and bars, plus an entertainment and conference space venue capable of accommodating 1,000 people. Valley Forge recently renovated its Casino Tower and 150 hotel rooms. The Stardust Tower, which was formerly the Radisson Valley Forge Hotel, is a circular hotel building and is amid renovation of its 257 occupancies.
The Stress Factory will be located on the ground floor of the Stardust Tower. Boyd Gaming said in a statement to Casino.org that the comedy club “will offer an intimate, state-of-the-art setting designed for optimal sightlines and acoustics.” The comedy lounge will include a full bar and “comfort-driven fare” like pretzels, flatbreads, quesadillas, and paninis.
We are excited to partner with Valley Forge Casino Resort and expand the Stress Factory brand into the Pennsylvania market,” said Vinnie Brand, the founder and owner of Stress Factory Comedy Club. “This new location gives us the opportunity to bring nationally recognized comedians to the area, and we’re looking forward to becoming part of the region’s growing live entertainment scene.”
Brand says notables set to perform this summer at Valley Forge Casino Resort include Rich Vos, Talent Harris, T.K. Kirkland, and Craig Shoemaker. Tickets are on sale now and start at $25, plus a two-item minimum.
Standup Casinos
Comedy and casino gambling go hand in hand, with many Las Vegas Strip and regional gaming properties having on-property standup clubs and lounges.
Notable rooms in Las Vegas include Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club at The Linq, Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club at MGM Grand, the Comedy Cellar at the Rio, and LA Comedy Club’s Dragon Room at The Strat.
Valley Forge bringing a comedy club to the resort should help lure new patrons to the casino. Valley Forge is a leader in Pennsylvania’s rich iGaming and online sports betting market with its FanDuel partner. But for retail play, the casino last year ranked No. 11 in slot win and sixth in table revenue among the 17 land-based casinos.
