  • New England Patriots QB Jake Maye and LA Rams QB Matthew Stafford lead the MVP betting odds
  • Favorites did well for bettors in weekend NFL games
  • Colts’ playoff hopes on the line tonight against 49ers in MNF game

Talk about a statement maker – New England Patriots’ quarterback Drake Maye led a nine-play, 89-yard winning drive in the fourth quarter in Baltimore against the Ravens on Sunday night, closing the gap between the young QB and LA Rams QB Matthew Stafford in the NFL MVP betting odds watch.

The Pats would go on to win the game, 28-24, securing a playoff spot. Last week, Maye had two chances to lead comebacks in the fourth quarter in the Pats’ loss to the Buffalo Bills, but couldn’t do it. He referred to that situation in the week leading up to the Ravens’ game as the “elephant in the room.”

On Sunday night, though, Maye was impressive in the Baltimore cold, going 31/44, for 380 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

MVP Odds Tighten

With two weeks remaining in the regular season, MVP odds have now coalesced around Maye and Stafford.

At FanDuel on Monday morning, Stafford is at -195, Maye at +170. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has dropped back to +2500. The same is true at DraftKings, where Stafford is at -215, Maye is at +180, and then Allen at +2500.

Bigger storylines from a betting perspective on Monday morning are led by injuries, including the back injury that forced Ravens QB Lamar Jackson out of Sunday night’s game, and the suspected ACL injury to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Gardner Minshew during Sunday’s 26-9 loss to the Tennessee Titans a week after the Chiefs lost QB Patrick Mahomes to an ACL tear in his left knee.

In other news, the 11-4 Jacksonville Jaguars took out the No. 1 seed Denver Broncos 34-20 at Empower Field at Mile High, led by QB Trevor Lawrence’s three touchdown passes.

Jaguars Make a Statement

“The week was decided in favor of the customers early,” said Caesars Sportsbook’s Head of Football Joey Feazel. “Everyone was expecting [Anthony] Joshua to knock out [Jake] Paul in Round one, except the Rams and Seahawks same-game parlays delivered the Christmas bonanza and made it a festive week all around for the bettors after one game. Saturday continued in the same manner, with popular teams Eagles and Bears winning, and the big comeback in Chicago was the icing on the yule log. A knockout Christmas week in favor of the customers.”

The LA Rams versus the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night was the second biggest win of the NFL season for customers (the Bills versus the Ravens in Week 1 being first). The Eagles and Bears were huge on Saturday for the customers. On Sunday, the Vikings, Saints, and Bengals were all winners.

The biggest games for the book, according to Feazel, were the Steelers winning straight up in Detroit, the Browns covering against the Bills, and the Raiders covering against the Houston Texans.

Super Bowl movers after Week 16 included the Rams +340 to +430, the Seahawks +700 to +500, the Jaguars +1900 to +1300, and the Lions +3000 to +12500.
