  • The woman Cardi B allegedly hit with a microphone two summers ago is hitting her back with a lawsuit
  • She claims the rapper asked to be doused with a drink, so she complied
  • The woman is also suing Drai’s Beachclub, where it happened, for negligence

Remember when Cardi B hurled her microphone at an audience member who doused her with a drink two summers back? Well, the woman she apparently hit does. She just filed suit against the rapper for assault and battery, among other charges. Here’s the replay…

The alleged victim claims she suffered “physical pain, emotional distress, reputational damage, embarrassment, and harassment from both the media and members of the public” after the incident on July 29, 2023.

She’s also suing Drai’s Beachclub, the Las Vegas Strip nightclub where it happened, for negligence. The complaint claims it “had a duty to supervise the performance and ensure the safety of its patrons, including Plaintiff.”

No damages were specified in the lawsuit, which was filed in Clark County District Court on Monday.

“What has been written off as a joke by many people is actually a traumatic experience that has significantly impacted my well-being and quality of life,” the victim said in a Wednesday statement. “I am seeking justice in the hopes of holding Cardi B accountable for her misdeeds, as no celebrity is above the law.”

Las Vegas police initially investigated the incident after a police report was filed, but determined there was insufficient evidence to file charges.

Throw Business

According to the lawsuit, the victim was merely complying with Cardi B’s wishes by throwing a portion of her drink on her. Appearing overheated onstage, the rapper poured water over her body several times and repeatedly asked audience members to do the same.

At one point, the suit says, she “turned, struck a pose, and physically reacted to splashes by slapping her posterior while audience-thrown liquids made contact with her.”

But when the victim did it, she got a microphone “suddenly and forcefully” hurled at her.

The microphone was then auctioned off for $99,000 on eBay.

Though the woman filed suit used the pseudonym Jane Doe, she made sure to name Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar Cephus as a defendant, which is how Cardi B is known at the DMV.
