Snuneymuxw First Nation Boosts British Columbia Casino Portfolio

Another day, another Great Canadian Entertainment British Columbia-based casino gets sold off. That’s the way 2025 has gone for the casino operator.
The company has announced the sale of Great Canadian Casino Vancouver in Coquitlam to Petroglyph Development Group (PDG).
PDG is a wholly owned corporation of the Snuneymuxw First Nation. The latest deal accelerates PDG’s push to become one of the largest casino-owning entities in Canada.
Fifth BC Casino Sold to First Nation
The Casino Vancouver deal is the fifth major casino acquisition in BC for the Snuneymuxw involving Great Canadian. Casino Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, Elements Casino Victoria, River Rock Casino Resort, and Chances Maple Ridge have also been sold to PDG. Great Canadian Entertainment also announced the sales of Elements Casino Chilliwack to Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe Management Ltd., and Hastings Casino in Vancouver to Tsleil-Waututh Nation in 2025.

917 Slots
Casino Vancouver is massive. It has the biggest gaming floor in BC, with over 917 slots, 37 table games, and 42 electronic tables for poker and blackjack. The Show Theatre is the live 1,050-seat entertainment hub. There are restaurants like Match Eatery, and a food hall. Gordon Ramsay Burger was the first of the celebrity chef’s restaurants to open in Canada in 2023.
Snuneymuxw is a First Nation of the Coast Salish People. They are located in the centre of Coast Salish territory on the eastern coast of Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, the Fraser River, Burrard Inlet and the Howe Sound.
Latest Great Canadian Sell-Off

The closing of the transaction is subject to all required regulatory and third-party approvals. That includes required approvals under the Competition Act.
