- BetRivers among the first operators to set up a pre-registration page for Alberta
- Company announces advertising partnership with CBC for Olympic coverage
- Proposed Alberta tax rate for operators will be 20% on 97% gross gaming revenue
BetRivers is the latest igaming platform to announce it is starting operations in Alberta’s upcoming regulated market, launching its pre-registration page.

The online casino and sportsbook brand operated by Rush Street Interactive joins PointsBet Canada, BetMGM and Betty as early entrants into the Alberta market, which is expected to go live this spring or summer.
Alberta Market Launch Spring/Summer 2026
Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) is handling registration for igaming operators, then the new Alberta iGaming Corporation will finalize commercial agreements.
Proposed tax rate will be 20% on 97% gross gaming revenue (there’s a deduction for First Nations funding and social responsibility to be applied to GGR before the split happens). Ontario’s igaming market has a flat 20% on GGR for operators.
Players in Alberta can now sign onto the BetRivers platform for early access, updates on launch updates and an exclusive offer ahead of the province’s market launch.
CBC Olympic Partnership
“Canada continues to be a priority growth market for BetRivers, and Alberta represents an exciting next step,” said Richard Schwartz, CEO at Rush Street Interactive. “With an office and large employee base in Toronto and a growing presence across the country, we’ve been building and investing in Canada for years.
The Alberta announcement coincides with BetRivers’ sponsorship of CBC/Radio Canada’s broadcast of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. This is the third Olympic Games in which BetRivers has partnered with CBC, the exclusive Canadian broadcaster of the Olympic Games. BetRivers is the only sports betting and online gaming partner of CBC.
BetRivers Joins PointsBet, BetMGM
“We’ve seen strong momentum in Ontario since launching in 2022, and through our continued partnership with CBC and our Olympic activations, we’re showing that we’re all-in on Canada for the long term,” said Schwartz.
As part of the CBC/Olympics sponsorship, there will be the return of CBC’s “The Game” presented by BetRivers. That’s a free -to-play trivia experience worked into CBC’s Olympic coverage, where fans can test their Olympic knowledge for a chance at prizes, including a paid trip to the Mexican Riviera.
“Our philosophy is simple, everything should feel like entertainment,” added Brian Sapp, CMO at Rush Street Interactive. “Whether it’s how players interact with our platform or how fans engage with us during the Olympics, we focus on making every moment more dynamic, entertaining, and rewarding.”
