- An Israeli government official was arrested for alleged pedophilia earlier this month in Las Vegas
- Tom Artiom Alexandrovich was allowed to return to Israel following his arrest
- The Council on American Islamic Relations filed a federal FOIA and a Nevada Public Record request seeking information on the case, and on why Alexandrovich was allowed to leave the US
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Muslim civil rights and advocacy group, announced Tuesday that it filed federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Nevada Public Records Act requests seeking a full public accounting of how Tom Artiom Alexandrovich — a senior Israeli government official arrested for alleged pedophilia — was allowed to leave the US following his arrest in Las Vegas earlier this month.

“This is an outrageous failure of the justice system,” CAIR said in a media statement. “At a time when US authorities are detaining immigrants, revoking visas, and deporting people for nothing more than their political opinions critical of US complicity in Israel’s genocide of Palestinians, an Israeli official accused of attempting to exploit a child was allowed to walk free.”
Alexandrovich, head of the Israel National Cyber Directorate’s technological defense division, was arrested along with seven others during a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) sting operation targeting online child sex predators. According to police, Alexandrovich believed he was meeting with a 15-year-old girl for “sexual contact,” though Alexandrovich insisted he believed the girl was 18.
According to police documents seen by KLAS-TV/Las Vegas, Alexandrovich brought a condom to the agreed-upon location for the meetup and planned to begin his evening with the minor by taking her to a Cirque du Soleil show.
Alexandrovich, 38, was booked on felony charges of luring a child with a computer for sexual activity. Despite the seriousness of the allegations and his status as a foreign national with no diplomatic immunity, he was released on bail, not required to surrender his passport, and permitted to fly back to Israel.
Immediate Extradition Sought
CAIR is calling on US and Nevada officials to demand Alexandrovich’s immediate extradition to face justice in the US.
There cannot be ‘get out of jail free’ cards for foreign officials facing felony charges,” the statement continued. “The American people deserve answers. The protection of children, the integrity of the justice system, and the principle that no individual, foreign official or otherwise, is above the law demand full transparency and accountability.
According to a statement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, Alexandrovich wasn’t arrested — despite police statements indicating otherwise.
“A state employee who traveled to the US for professional matters was questioned by American authorities during his stay,” the statement read. “The employee, who does not hold a diplomatic visa, was not arrested and returned to Israel as scheduled.”
