Westin Casuarina Gets a New Name: Max Casino at The Westin Las Vegas
The Westin Casuarina hotel-casino isn’t one of the more high-profile in Las Vegas, but it’s popular with business travelers and has a small, friendly casino.
The Westin Casuarina is getting a new name, according to omnipresent Las Vegas Sun reporter John Katsilometes. The new name? Max Casino at The Westin Las Vegas.
The hotel’s new name pays homage to its original name, Maxim Hotel and Casino, the one it had when it opened in 1977.
We trust they couldn’t call it the Maxim because people might mistake it for Maxum, as in Maxum condoms.
One of the Westin’s claims to fame is it’s one of the few (and was among the first) to prohibit smoking in just about all of its hotel. When it was The Maxim, it was also somewhat infamous for being the site of the shooting of Tupac Shakur in 1996.
The hotel’s casino has about 260 slot machines and eight table games, modest by Las Vegas standards.
The Westin Casuarina is located on Flamingo Blvd., across the street from Bally’s Las Vegas, adjacent to the empty lot that used to be the Bourbon Street.
