- Ontario sportsbooks offer more novelty bets for this weekend’s big game
- FanDuel offers Stefon Diggs/Cardi B Super Bowl bet
- OLG already seeing benefits of new Kambi partnership
With the news last week that Kambi Group was taking over operations of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s Proline sportsbook, one advantage the platform has in the province’s competitive igaming landscape will be the ability to offer more novelty bets on Sunday’s Super Bowl, an OLG spokesperson said.

The new Kambi Proline platform has a “ton” more options on the novelty betting front, said Tony Bitonti. The platform has more betting options for sports in different countries, improvements in same game parlay options, the addition of baseball “same game” parlay betting options, and an expansion of player props, alternate lines, and futures markets as well.
Cultural Experience
A new Vividata study sheds light on how, for Canadians anyway, the Super Bowl isn’t one of the big games on the calendar just for sports fans. The game has a broader reach, bringing in people who don’t normally watch football, who tune in for the experience, a full night of food delivery and beer, with family and friends.
According to the study, 56% of Super Bowl viewers are not regular-season NFL watchers. Vividata shows that more than most other broadcasts, the Super Bowl drives game-day behaviours, where viewers act, perhaps searching online after seeing a Super Bowl ad, and that includes making a bet.
More Novelty Betting
Bitonti said the Kambi partnership positions Proline better in an Ontario igaming market that currently has 48 licensed private operators.
Licensed Ontario sportsbooks allow novelty bets on non-sporting events like politics, elections, Oscars, Golden Globes, and other entertainment, compared to their U.S. brethren. Ontario sportsbooks offer a wide range of fun, off-the-wall novelty bets, and that includes the Super Bowl.
Diggs’ Marriage Proposal?
FanDuel Canada is in on it – this year fans will be able to make their predictions if New England Patriots wide receiver, Stefon Diggs, will propose to his music star girlfriend, Cardi B. In Ontario, FanDuel users can also make their choice on which song Bad Bunny will sing first at the halftime show, if the coin toss will land on heads or tails, the length of the national anthem and who the MVP will thank first in his speech.
Their offerings go way beyond the typical “color of first Gatorade poured on winning head coach” markets, one that you’ll find on a whole variety of platforms.
According to FanDuel Canada’s Novelty Trader: Over 60% of bets are on the over (119.5 seconds) for the national anthem length, 60% of bets are hoping for a proposal post-game from Stefon Diggs, 30% think the MVP will thank his teammates first, Cardi B is the most bet to appear as a special guest for halftime show, and over 20% of bets are on yellow/lime or green for the first Gatorade Poured on Winning Head Coach.
And at the aforementioned Proline, Over 90% of bets are on the coin toss outcome to be heads. In the U.S., DraftKings offers a full sked of Super Bowl-related novelty betting markets here.
