- The DEA recently arrested a suspected drug dealer at a California tribal casino
- The suspect was allegedly found to have $300K in illicit drugs in his possession
A California tribal casino is doing its part in the war on drugs.

This week, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office revealed that a special investigation into a suspected drug dealer was initiated in April. The sting conducted by the Marin Specialized Investigative Unit ultimately led to the arrest of Reginald Lee Weaver, 57, who has a lengthy rap sheet for dealing narcotics.
Law enforcement in Marin County, located on the northwestern San Francisco Bay, partnered with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to set up a covert operation on Weaver.
The Marin County Sheriff’s Office reports that an undercover agent arranged the purchase of two pounds of methamphetamine from Weaver on July 17. The drug deal was carried out at the San Pablo Lytton Casino, a tribal casino owned and operated by the Lytton Band of Pomo Indians.
After paying Weaver $2,800 in DEA-provided cash for the meth, he was arrested.
Search Turns Up Loot
After arresting Weaver and booking him into county jail on a no-bail federal hold, a search warrant for his Richmond home was executed.
The raid turned up approximately 27 pounds of meth, three kilos of cocaine, 2.7 pounds of fentanyl, and 11 pounds of marijuana. Federal authorities estimated the street value of the illegal drugs at more than $300K.
Weaver is facing numerous felony drug possession, trafficking, and distribution charges. He could serve up to 20 years in prison if found guilty.
This isn’t Weaver’s first run-in with the law. The Mercury News reports that, in 2021, Weaver was successfully prosecuted for violating the terms of his 2019 parole stemming from a drug dealing case. In that incident, Weaver was found in possession of a pound of methamphetamine, 10 grams of cocaine, an AK-47 assault rifle, and two pistols.
The San Pablo Lytton Casino is located just north of Weaver’s hometown of Richmond.
The tribal casino doesn’t have live-dealer table games or traditional Las Vegas slot machines, as it is a Class II gaming property. As such, the San Pablo gaming floor has only slot-like electronic bingo machines.
Casino Dealings
Casinos don’t make for good places to deal drugs, as the gaming floors are heavily surveilled at all times. That doesn’t stop bad actors like Weaver from seeking to use the businesses to distribute.
In neighboring Nevada, a 37-year-old was convicted in January in connection with a 2022 drug trafficking case involving over five pounds of meth and 12 ounces of heroin.
A jury convicted Kerry Williams of drug trafficking, and because he was on parole from a prior drug trafficking case at the time of his 2022 arrest, the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office successfully sought life imprisonment. Williams will be eligible for parole after 18 years.
Casino.org reported earlier this month on a 35-year-old California man being sentenced to seven years in prison after he pleaded guilty to selling counterfeit oxycodone laced with fentanyl at the Chicken Ranch Casino Resort in Jamestown, Calif.
