Aria starts her job this Thursday in the Fashion Show Mall on the Las Vegas Strip. “She’s” a customer service rep at the Tix4Vegas kiosk.

Aria — no connection to the MGM Resorts casino that goes by that name other than also not being alive — is the flagship robot of AI-powered humanoid robotics manufacturer Realbotix Corp.
If she looks a hell of a lot like a RealDoll sex toy to you, we noticed that, too. And we also happened to notice that Realbotix and Abyss Creations — the San Marcos, Calif.-based company that manufactures the RealDoll — are both subsidiaries of a corporation called Simulacra, which was founded by RealDoll creator Matt McMullen.
We didn’t already know that information off the top of our head. We had to look it up. Exactly what are you suggesting?
According to the Realbotix press release, Aria’s “advanced conversational AI and emotional intelligence” will assist horny male tourists “with personalized show and entertainment recommendations, real-time Q&A about local attractions and ticketing and seamless customer support in a dynamic retail environment.”
We added the part about horny male tourists, because it’s true.
“Bringing an AI Robot into our kiosk gives us a futuristic edge,” Andrew Shack, CEO of Tix4, said in the release. “It’s not just a novelty, it’s a helpful, intelligent guide who enhances how customers explore the city.”
On that note, here’s a sampling of typical questions Aria is expected to be asked:
- What’s playing at the Sphere tonight?
- Where can I get a reservation for six at a good Italian restaurant on Friday night? and
- What are you doing after work?
Realbotix CEO Andrew Kiguel also had some nice things to say about Aria in the press release that completely ignored her stunning resemblance to a sex doll.
“Deploying Aria in a real-world business setting highlights the readiness of our technology to address practical needs,” he said. “From concierge desks and airport terminals to healthcare triage and museum tours, we’re focused on creating solutions that enhance customer engagement and support businesses in new ways.”
We much prefer a quote from a commenter beneath Las Vegas Locally’s Facebook update about the subject on Tuesday, however.
“You know the economy is bad,” wrote Carrie Lynn Bachmann, “when the real dolls have to get second jobs.”
Well, if the entire Las Vegas hospitality workforce is doomed to eventually be replaced with robots, at least some will be titillating.
