- Joel Strasser and Garrett Smith are poised to set a Guinness World Record in Las Vegas
- The record is for the most casinos visited within 24 hours
- The previous record of 74 casinos has stood since October 2017
The Guinness World Record for “Most Casinos Visited in 24 Hours” will almost certainly be set later today in Las Vegas.

When Joel Strasser and Garrett Smith decided to attempt to visit and gamble at no fewer than 75 casinos in 24 hours, everyone who knew the best friends, famous for finishing second on Season 35 of “The Amazing Race” and holding a combined 20 Guinness World Records, knew that the feat would be accomplished.
We are going to break the record — it’s just about by how much,” Strasser said Thursday several hours into the casino marathon.
Casino.org chose Strasser and Smith to try to set the new benchmark for the most casinos visited — and gambled — in one day.
They began their historic journey on Thursday, September 25, at 3 pm local time in Southern Nevada. The Guinness World Records requires that they place a table game or electronic table game bet to count as a casino visit. Playing a slot machine, placing a sports bet, or gambling in any other capacity does not.
These Dudes Are Not Normal
The Guinness rules prohibit the use of taxis, rideshares, self-driving vehicles, and hired cars. Scheduled public transportation like buses, trains, and monorails is allowed, though the duo is sticking to their e-bikes.
With more than eight hours remaining, the odds of Strasser and Smith setting the Guinness World Record for Most Casinos Visited in 24 Hours are about as good as the sun coming up tomorrow. In their first 15 hours, they’ve covered over 129 miles on foot and/or electric bicycles. As of 6 am Friday, they had patronized 70 casinos.
Strasser and Smith planned their record attempt for more than a year and a half. The Idahoans arrived in Las Vegas last week, where they said they were still finalizing their map.
This record is so logistically tough. It is incredibly difficult to follow all of Guinness’ rules and jump through every hoop,” said Strasser.
“I think that’s why the record has stood for almost 10 years,” he added.
Normal people don’t do this,” Garrett said. “We’re not that normal.”
Ahead of their record attempt, Casino.org put the odds of Joel and Garrett breaking the record at, in hindsight, an attractive 7/1, meaning a $100 wager would have netted $700.

World Record Forthcoming
Casino.org has been on the ground every step of the way with Smith and Strasser as they scurried across Southern Nevada on their way into the history books. The two remain in good spirits, pulling on their “Amazing Race” days, where staying up for 24 hours straight wasn’t exactly atypical.
The Guinness World Records doesn’t pay record holders for their achievements, but Casino.org does. Along with an all-expense-paid trip to Las Vegas and covering all of their bets over the past 24 hours, when Strasser and Smith exit their 75th casino later today, they’ll receive a cool $3,000 in cash.

I believe that any MGM or Caesars casino should only be counted as 1 seeing that they are all the same. Just check the websites if you don’t believe me. In addition, anyplace that offers only 6-5 BJ or Triple Zero roulette should not count either.
