  • Chiefs’ Super Bowl odds hit +5000 after loss last night to Texans
  • Allen leads Bills to come-from-behind win over the Bengals in the snow of Buffalo
  • Eagles ML favourites in tonight’s MNF game against the Chargers in L.A.

There are many notable takeaways after NFL Week 14, heading into Monday Night Football’s showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Chargers, from a betting perspective.

One, the Kansas Chiefs, 6-7, going down 20-10 to the charging Houston Texans (8-5) last night at home, are done. There’s no more dynasty talk there.

The New England Patriots sit at 11-2, took their bye week yesterday, and prep for their Sunday showdown at home against the Bills (9-4), with a chance to sweep Buffalo this season. That’s the game of the week coming up.

Allen Delivers

Good luck there. Any team that has MVP Josh Allen has the advantage. If that wasn’t apparent yesterday, then you weren’t watching. The Bills QB almost singlehandedly took out a Cincinnati Bengals team under QB Joe Burrow that in a snow storm in Buffalo led 21-11 at half and led 28-25 late in the fourth quarter. Burrow threw 25-36 for four TDs. The Bills’ defence couldn’t stop him.

No problem for Allen – who threw for 251 yards himself, three TDs, 78 yards rushing, including most notably a 40-yard scamper for a TD in the fourth quarter that made it 28-25 for the Bengals. Then Christian Benford took advantage of the few mistakes Burrow made, with Burrows seemingly mishandling the ball trying to make a short dump pass, running 63 yards for the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Buffalo led 31-28 and never looked back.

Although Buffalo didn’t manage to cover their opening spread, they were a strong favorite in our in-game markets, drawing plenty of live betting interest,” said Joey Feazel, Head of Football at Caesars Sportsbook. “Anytime these two teams combine for a high-scoring affair, it tends to be a win for bettors who stack popular Same Game Parlay legs. Points, player props, and touchdowns all came through in this matchup.”

Jordan Love of the Packers torched the Bears yesterday 28-21. Love had three TDs. They are a strong favourite to come out of the NFC now. The 10-3 L.A. Rams destroyed the Arizona Cardinals 45-17. The Denver Broncos (11-2) and Seattle Seahawks (10-3) did what they had to do, beating up the Las Vegas Raiders and Atlanta Falcons, respectively, in their two games, further cementing themselves at the top of NFL power rankings. The Pittsburgh Steelers pretty much buried the Baltimore Ravens season with a 27-22 win, off a 23-34, 284-yard, one-touchdown day by QB Aaron Rodgers.

Super Bowls Odds Movement

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones tore his Achilles, so their slide, likely out of the playoffs, continues. According to ESPN’s Football Power Index today, it’s the Patriots on top, with a projected wins-losses at 13.2-3.8, followed by the Broncos (13.0-4.0), Rams (12.6-4.3), Seahawks (12.3-4.6), then the Bills (11.7-5.3) to round out the Top 5.

The Bills are salivating at the fact they likely won’t have to deal with the Chiefs, trying to win a Super Bowl in the Josh Allen window. Keep an eye on the injury list updates – All-Pro DT Ed Oliver, on injured reserve with a biceps injury, could return once the playoffs start, according to head coach Sean McDermott. That’s a game changer for a team porous in the run defence department.

According to theScore Bet, the Rams remain the favorite to win the Super Bowl at +400. The Packers improved from +900 to +800 to win the Super Bowl, now tied with theSeahawks for the second-best odds (Seattle entered Sunday at +800).  The Bills and Patriots are tied for the next best odds at +850. New England entered the day at +1000 and Buffalo at +1100.

The Eagles remain at +900 ahead of their Monday night game in Los Angeles, and Denver shortened slightly from +1100 to +1000. The Texans now sit at +1300, jumping up from +2500 after their win in Kansas City on Sunday night. The Texans leapfrogged several teams, including the Chiefs, who dropped from +1400 to win the Super Bowl entering Sunday to +5000 now.

Seahawks Versus Falcons Best Game for Bettors

The Seahawks 37-9 win Atlanta and the Packers win over the Bears were the best outcomes for bettors yesterday.

“The Seahawks continue to quietly dominate on both sides of the ball, and that consistency hasn’t gone unnoticed by our customers,” said Feazel. “Seattle’s blowout win over Atlanta was one of the most popular picks among bettors this morning, reinforcing the growing confidence in their ability to control games. The Packers were one of the more popular selections in the late afternoon slate, drawing strong support from bettors. Green Bay managed to hold on and cover the 6.5-point spread we had posted all week, rewarding those who backed them.”

The Saint’s stunning 24-20 victory over Tampa Bay (7-6) was the big win for the sportsbook, Feazel added. The Saints are 3-10. The Bucs are barely hanging on to first place in the weak NFC South now.

“Whenever a lower-tier team like the Saints pulls off a win, it tends to be a positive outcome for the book,” said Feazel. “Not only does it help on the straight bet side, but it also broke up a significant number of moneyline parlays that typically lean toward favorites like Tampa Bay. With the Steelers and Ravens (won by the Steelers 27-22), in the ongoing battle within the AFC North, we saw steady action on the Ravens throughout the week as bettors backed Baltimore heavily. However, with the game on the line, Pittsburgh came through in dramatic fashion, keeping both their playoff aspirations and divisional hopes alive.

Monday Night Affair

Tight betting lines for tonight’s Eagles game in Los Angeles against the Raiders, with the NFC East first place Eagles (8-4) coming off that huge 24-14 loss to the Bears on Thanksgiving Weekend. The boo birds were out big that game. The Eagles are still in good shape for their fifth consecutive playoff appearance, yet they’ve still dropped two in a row. Chargers QB Justin Herbert had surgery for a fracture in his non-throwing hand, with reports saying he will play tonight. The Chargers are in a playoff position, 8-4 in the AFC West, second to the Broncos.

Current ML at BetMGM has the Eagles at -135 (44% of bets, 61% of handle currently), the Chargers at +115. Bettors have their eyes on the Eagles’ Saquon Barkley. Most Bet Anytime Touchdown Scorer (tickets) is Barkley at +110, with the Eagles’ running back leads the way for Most Bet First Touchdown Scorer (tickets) at +550 as well.
