  • Las Vegas Strip casino revenue climbed over 8% in October 2025
  • Baccarat and other table games fueled the strong month

The Las Vegas Strip proved the naysayers wrong last month as the 38 casino properties reported a surge in gross gaming revenue (GGR).

For all the negative headlines of late regarding the health of the Las Vegas Strip, with many reports claiming that the main drag has turned away customers with pesky, ever-growing fees and excessive costs, October’s casino win of more than $748.8 million was an 8.2% year-over-year surge. October also pushed the Strip’s 12-year revenue into the black, with slot and table game win up by the narrowest of margins at 0.05% to over $8.87 billion.

For months, social media has been abuzz with videos showing desolate casino floors on and around the Las Vegas Strip. Many have commented that they’re fed up with $20 cocktails and $50 nightly resort fees. The so-called “value received” component of visiting Southern Nevada had seemingly disappeared.

October, at least in terms of casino revenue, showed Las Vegas’ resiliency.

Premium Players Behind Gaming Rally

The Strip’s October rally was led by higher rollers staying at luxurious properties. Baccarat, the game of choice among many VIPs, including those from Asia, was most responsible for the Strip surge, as the banker-player game won $116.4 million from gamblers, a 69% year-over-year surge.

Baccarat wasn’t the only table game to fare well. Blackjack revenue climbed over 3% to $92.5 million, craps was up 1.5% to $32.3 million, and roulette revenue soared 22% to $21.9 million.

Oddsmakers also performed well, with sports betting revenue almost double from a year ago at $25.6 million. In all, GGR from the felt and sports skyrocketed 25% to $330.1 million. Meanwhile, slot win slowed over 2% to $418.2 million.

The Strip pushed October statewide GGR positive to 5%. Other regional market winners included Elko County, up 5% to $33.5 million, and Washoe County, up 4% to $95.3 million.

Las Vegas Turnaround

During MGM Resorts’ third-quarter earnings call, CEO Bill Hornbuckle acknowledged that pricing on the Strip had gotten a bit out of touch, especially amid economic worries across the nation that have pulled in some consumers’ leisure spending.

When we think about pricing and things that got everyone’s attention, whether it was the infamous bottle of water or a Starbucks coffee at Excalibur that cost $12, shame on us,” Hornbuckle said. “We should have been more sensitive to the overall experience at a place like Excalibur. You can’t have a $29 room and a $12 coffee.”

MGM, which owns the most Strip properties, is committed to making Las Vegas more affordable again.

We lost control of the narrative over the summer. I think we would all agree in hindsight. We think and hope we have price corrected,” Hornbuckle said.

Later this week, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority will release its October visitor volume report showing how the destination fared in terms of guest count and overnight stays. Traffic at Harry Reid International will also be disclosed.
