Kirk Hendrick will resign as chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) sometime this year following the conclusion of the next legislative session.

Hendrick publicly revealed his plan to leave the board on Wednesday. Earlier, he informed Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo (R), who appointed him to a four-year term as chairman.
The governor will appoint a replacement for Hendrick, though there’s been no word on who it might be.
Hendrick didn’t provide a reason for his resignation this week.
Key Achievements
During his time as chairman, Hendrick oversaw the inquiry into Resorts World Las Vegas, according to Las Vegas TV station KSNV. Investigators claimed illegal bookmakers were allowed into the gaming property, and the investigation eventually led to the resignation of Resorts World President Scott Sibella along with the revocation of his gaming license.
There also was a settlement with Steve Wynn over claims of sexual misconduct during Hendrick’s tenure.
During his recent meeting with Lombardo, Hendrick said in a statement the two had a “great conversation.”
[W]e discovered how much the Board has accomplished since he appointed me as chairman two years ago. We also discussed more to still be accomplished, including the Board’s priorities for the legislative session starting next month.”
“My announcement today allows Governor Lombardo time to find the next Board Chair and provides for a smooth transition of leadership. It also allows me to tell all the amazing Board agents and employees, as well as Nevada’s gaming industry, citizens, and visitors, that I am dedicated to accomplishing much more over the next several months.”
The NGCB is responsible for regulating gambling in Nevada. It investigates complaints and enforces relevant regulations, as well as oversees licensing for gaming venues.
Long Career
Hendrick was named NGCB chairman in 2023. Before that, he was chief operating officer of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). He also was senior deputy attorney general for the gaming division’s Las Vegas office and chief deputy for the statewide gaming division.
In addition, Hendrick was the legal counsel for the Nevada Athletic Commission. He also worked as a lawyer in Nevada, beginning his career some 30 years ago.
Hendrick grew up in Las Vegas, where he graduated from Chaparral High School. He received a degree from UNLV, and a law degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego, Calif.
Before Hendrick’s term, Brittnie Watkins was acting chairwoman following the tenure of Brin Gibson as chairman.
