A Justin Bieber impersonator talked his way onto the stage at XS Nightclub at Encore Las Vegas on Saturday night, and his performance has sparked discussions about how to improve security protocols in Las Vegas.

With the same tattoos, confident swagger and fashion sense, Dylan Desclos duped Wynn staff and the scheduled DJ, Gryffin, who annnounced “We’ve got Justin Bieber in the house!” and then played Bieber’s 2015 hit, “Sorry,” as Descos sang along.

Desclos also seemed to fool the audience, hundreds of whom screamed and held up videoing smartphones, convinced they were witnessing a once-in-a-lifetime event.

Non-Beliebers

The stunt was exposed not by Wynn staffers but by astute commenters beneath the dozens of videos posted to social media. They recognized the singer as Desclos, a 29-year-old Bieber impersonator from France who has honed the act since fans at a 2019 Bieber concert remarked on his striking resemblance to the pop star.

By 1:30 a.m., about a half hour after Desclos’ performance, word of the hoax made it back to XS staffers, who showed the impostor the door and banned him permanently from ever re-entering a Wynn Resorts property.

Before being ejected, Desclos paid for the $10K in top-shelf bottles his team had ordered. (Presumably, if it would have been comped if he were really Bieber.)

“After an elaborate and multi-step ruse by him and his advance team, a Justin Bieber impersonator was granted access to the XS stage,” a Wynn spokesman told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “As soon as the error was recognized, he was removed from the resort and denied future entry.”

The ruse reportedly began on Friday, when Desclos was seen posing for selfies with excited fans and shopping at designer stores, creating the buzz that Bieber was in town.

“My sister sent me a picture with him ,” commented Instagram user @ellielawrrence.

Security Fail

For XS Nightclub, the incident was an embarrassing gaffe that sparked discussions about improving security protocols. Rumors are circulating that least one XS staffer was fired and more may follow, but Wynn Resorts has made no official statements to that effect.

In a social-media clip, Gryffin later posted:  “After 4 minutes and 27 second of what sounded like Justin Bieber, I found out the worst news imaginable.”
