Earlier this month, Diddy was sentenced to four years and two months in a federal prison, and fined $500K after he was found guilty a month earlier on two counts of transportation for the purposes of prostitution. Celebrity news site TMZ broke the report that, according to a “high-ranking White House official,” Trump is strongly leaning toward commuting Diddy’s sentence. Several White House staffers have supposedly urged the president not to interject in the rapper’s case.
Trump will do what he wants,” the insider reportedly told TMZ, adding that the commutation could be granted as early as this week. If that happens, Diddy could walk free by the weekend.
Diddy, 55, or Sean Combs, Puff Daddy, and P. Diddy, was found guilty by a jury of his peers of transporting his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, another former girlfriend, and male sex workers for the purposes of prostitution. Appeal Forthcoming
If Trump doesn’t commute Diddy’s sentence, he’ll continue appealing his conviction and sentence. A notice filed in New York’s Southern District this week advised the court that an appeal is forthcoming.
The filing didn’t disclose the grounds on which Combs will base his appeal. His attorneys, however, have said previously that the conviction shouldn’t stand because the transportation for the purposes of prostitution shouldn’t apply in the case.
Diddy has been in custody since September 2024.
