Bally’s Kansas City Casino Parking Lot Shooting Leaves Teenager Dead

A shooting last night at the Bally’s Kansas City Casino has left one man dead.
The Kansas City Police Department responded last night around 9:30 pm local time to 1800 East Front Street for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, law enforcement said officers and EMD personnel found an 18-year-old suffering from gunshot wounds.
The man, identified as Aundre Harris Jr., later died from his injuries at a local hospital. Police detailed that a disturbance involving multiple people began inside the casino property. It escalated once the involved parties took their grievances to the casino’s parking lot.
The KCPD took a suspect into custody at the scene. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call homicide detectives at 816-234-5043. Anonymous tips can be made at 816-474-TIPS. There is a possible reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest.
Underage Shooting Victim
Bally’s Kansas City Casino did not comment on the parking lot shooting. The casino’s social media channels continued to promote gaming and other events as normal.
Bally’s Lincoln in Rhode Island did weigh in on the Brown University shooting in December after a gunman opened fire inside an engineering building that killed two people. The Bally’s Rhode Island casino in Lincoln is less than five miles from the Ivy League campus.
It’s unclear if Harris was involved in the initial scuffle inside the casino. He shouldn’t have been, as Missouri’s casino law prohibits anyone under the age of 21 from entering a land-based or riverboat gaming facility.
Formerly the Hilton Flamingo, Isle of Capri, and Casino KC, Bally’s Corp., then known as Twin River Worldwide Holdings, bought the riverboat in July 2020 from Eldorado Resorts. Instead of a floating casino on the Missouri River, the “riverboat” has always hovered above a five-acre manmade lake just inland from the riverbank.
The property was rebranded to Bally’s in August 2021 after Twin River bought the Bally’s casino brand. Bally’s Kansas City underwent a $50 million renovation in 2023.
Bally’s has since sold the physical assets of Bally’s Kansas City to Gaming and Leisure Properties, a real estate investment trust led by Penn Entertainment.
Casino Shootings
It’s been a violent run of serious crimes at casinos.
In December, a man was gunned down inside MGM National Harbor, which is just outside the nation’s capital in Maryland’s Oxon Hill. That same month, a shooting outside Horseshoe Casino Baltimore left one man dead. Both incidents were not random, as the shooters knew their victims.
That wasn’t the case at the Lucky Eagle Casino in Texas’ Eagle Pass, where police allege an enraged gunman opened fire at the tribal casino owned and operated by the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas. Two people, including a mother of five and a retired customs and border agent, were killed.
