Planning Documents Reveal Slew of New Things on The Strip

We got our hands on a bunch of plans submitted to the Clark County Planning Commission and they show a ton of new additions coming to resorts along the Las Vegas Strip.

Included are a massive new digital sign at Caesars Palace, details about a new entertainment venue (slash dayclub) at Caesars Palace, a gorgeous new clubhouse for the golf course at Wynn Las Vegas and some kinda dock/patio with a boat at Bellagio.

If this tariff fiasco doesn’t throw a wrench into the works, here’s more about what’s to come at some of your favorite casinos.

Our golf course clubhouse rendering, not Wynn’s. They should steal it, though.

We mention the tariff thing because Wynn Resorts announced it is pushing back plans to renovate some of its rooms.

Unreported elsewhere, we also shared word casinos are canceling or postponing orders for LED signs.

So, we have no idea which of these projects will actually move forward, but our fingers are crossed. Fun fact: The gesture of crossing fingers for good luck likely originated in early Christianity, where it symbolized invoking the power of the cross, but it may also have evolved from pre-Christian European pagan rituals that involved crossing two people’s fingers to trap good spirits at the intersection.

This will win you a bar bet someday.

Anyway, all of that to say plans are submitted all the time, there’s no way to know for sure if they’ll be implemented. Our guess is yes on this batch.

1. Boating Dock/Patio at Bellagio

The fountains at Bellagio might be iconic, but they don’t drive revenue. Bellagio, and its operator MGM Resorts, may have come up with a way to fix that.

There are plans for the addition of a new patio and boating dock, and it looks like guests may be able to take the boat for a cruise around the Bellagio lake.

The Bellagio fountains are about to get a lot more immersive and interactive.

At first glance, it looked like this addition would be an extension of Picasso restaurant, which is being renovated, but our friend @LasVegasLocally tells us this may be part of a new, yet-to-be-announced seafood restaurant.

Such a ride or attraction would be “found money” for MGM Resorts.

Boating is not currently permitted in the Bellagio lake, although some asshats insist upon using it as a swimming pool and a pop singer, also known for being terrible at blackjack, once used it for jet skiing.

2. Entertainment Venue at Caesars Palace

Caesars Entertainment dropped hints about a new dayclub (presumably Omnia-branded) outside the classic casino some time ago, it now looks like those plans will materialize.

The new “entertainment venue” will sit on Las Vegas Boulevard. Here are the plans. Caesars hasn’t said much about this new venue, so we’re all just guessing what they’re up to at this point.

Surface parking lot, meh. Bikinis and bottle service, right this way.

A longtime fixture, a Roman-themed rotunda, will also come down in the area.

Here’s a closer look.

We don’t see pools, but we are not a draftsperson.

Preliminary work has already started in front of Caesars Palace. Here’s a pic from literally today thanks to our friend @JamesinLasVegas.

3. Bigass Video Display at Caesars Palace

Bigass video screens are all the rage on the Las Vegas Strip. Horseshoe’s new screen took months to erect, but it’s making bank in ad revenue now.

That screen, and the new one, are being paid for by a third party, Branded Cities. The company pays for the displays, then sells ad space and Caesars Entertainment gets rent or a piece of the ad revenue, plus placement of ads promoting its own amenities, of course.

The sign will sit near the corner of Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd. The red square thingy.

Are we a fan of casino marquees being turned into billboards? Not really, but mostly because we compare the signs to those in the early days of Vegas. They were static, but more romantic. Romance doesn’t keep the lights on, however.

Here’s how the sign will look as you’re approaching it. Anticipate it will be so bright, the new sign will be visible from space, or Reno, whichever is farther.

We were just thinking, “This corner doesn’t have enough distractions for drivers!” Voila.

4. Clubhouse at Wynn Las Vegas

The last item in the treasure trove of scoop from the planning documents is a new clubhouse situated on the Wynn Las Vegas course.

The new clubhouse is dubbed Cliffhouse at Wynn Las Vegas and it looks pretty sweet, Frank Lloyd Wrightwise.

Green fees at the Wynn golf course tend to run in the $800 range. If you spit up milk through your nose when you read that number, join the club.

Frank Lloyd Wright, of course, was an architect whose ideology espoused an organically integrative spatial praxis wherein anthropocentric utility and biophilic contextualism coalesced through a tectonic language of horizontal stratification, interstitial fluidity utilizing site-specific materiality and structural dynamism to dissolve the dialectic between edifice and environment, thereby manifesting a phenomenological continuum between the constructed and the terrestrial within a unified aesthetic ontology.

It’s unclear how we wrote a blog before ChatGPT.

Back before we nearly decapitated ourself with our drone, we captured some footage of the Wynn golf course.

Anyway, that clubhouse we can’t afford to visit is going to be awesome.

That’s it on the scoop front. Are you not entertained?

We’d give you more details about these new projects, but all the links to the county’s Web site broke after we posted these items on Twitter.

Is it possible these weren’t supposed to be public yet?

Did we stumble upon a scandal?

Are we doing that thing were we ask lots of rhetorical questions because we can’t think of a good way to end our story?

Do you know this blog at all?
