Caesars Palace Reopens Poker Room in New Location

The poker room at Caesars Palace is back.

It used to be in a room near Omnia nightclub, then it was in a space near the sportsbook, then it went away completely (in August 2024), now it’s back in the hotel’s Appian Way retail area and appears to be staying.

Just take a turn at David’s scrotum.

Poker is a lot like video poker. It doesn’t matter where you put it, the people who are into it will find it.

While you’re there, make sure to check out the bronze plaque at the base of the David statue.

Fun fact!

The new Caesars Palace poker room has a wee eight tables, but the room will be expanding soon.

If you get lost in this poker room, you are really, really drunk.

A manager at the venue said the space will soon expand into an adjoining retail space currently occupied by Misura.

Less retail, more anything else except cigar bars.

The expanded poker room will have 20-22 tables, and the expansion is expected to happen by the end of 2025.

The new poker room feels a tad slapped-together. The goal was to reopen a poker space before the World Series of Poker (WSOP) which happens May 27 to July 16, 2025.

Blink and you’ll miss it.

Why has the poker room been moved around so much? Because poker rooms don’t generate much revenue for casinos, so they’re not a high priority.

Poker rooms are an amenity for guests like salons, spas and prostitutes.

Poker people understand it.

Poker rooms were once pretty standard in Las Vegas casinos, peaking at about 70 such rooms in 2010. Now, there are 19 Las Vegas poker rooms, with just 10 on the Las Vegas Strip.

We knew things were going south for poker rooms when Binion’s got rid of its poker room. Binion’s is where the World Series of Poker got its start.

Venetian recently moved its poker room off the main casino floor and into a retail area, too.

Flamingo closed its poker room in 2021. It’s now a Vanderpump lounge.

The list goes on and on.

In August 2024, Caesars Entertainment sold its WSOP brand for $500 million to help pay down some of the company’s debt. As part of the sale, Caesars gets to host the WSOP for 20 years. It sold Linq Promenade, too. Please try and keep up.

The new poker room at Caesars is intimate. It’s hard to tell how much play it’s going to get because we visited during EDC and EDC (an EDM music festival) is brutal for poker rooms, shows, lounges and casinos.

The poker room is equipped with kiosks for sports betting, the other thing that doesn’t generate a lot of revenue for casinos.

Caesars Entertainment also reopened its poker room at Planet Hollywood. We would have included that news in this story, but we’d rather get two stories out of it so Casino.org thinks we’re actually doing something for our exorbitant compensation.

Is poker making a comeback? No.

Does it still have legions of fans? Yes.

Will poker continue to be treated like a bastard stepchild by casinos? Yes.

Is Phil Hellmuth someone you’d want to be stuck on an elevator with for any amount of time? No.

Do we sometimes end our stories by asking lots of rhetorical questions? Yes.
