Red Rock Casino Distracts From Culinary Misfires with New Replacements
It’s a tactic as old as time, practiced by Las Vegas magicians and casino PRs since time immemorial: Misdirection.
The news: Two food concepts at Red Rock Resort are closing. The misdirection: Two new food concepts are in the works to replace these business gaffes.
Out: Side Piece and Federal Donuts & Chicken. Coming soon: Good Pie and Randy’s Donuts.

The marginally passable Side Piece opened at Red Rock in May 2021.
Us: “Is this the right pizza? There’s nothing on it.”
Side Piece guy: “The crust is chicken!”
Chicken Parm Pizza seemed like a good idea at the time—$25, basically inedible. The normal slices do the trick, though. @redrockcasino pic.twitter.com/ASeibPdM9Z— Vital Vegas (@VitalVegas) May 13, 2023
Good Pie opens in spring 2026.
Good Pie was the result of a falling out between its owner, Vincent Ritolo, and Fremont East’s Evel Pie.
The original Good Pie was in Pawn Plaza, next to the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop of “Pawn Stars” fame. Man, alive, it was aggressively terrible.
Good Pie moved to the Arts District in Dec. 2020 where it was also not very good. We kept trying and hoping because people talk the place up and Ritolo is a nice guy.
We’re sure Good Pie will live up to its name in the Red Rock food court!

On the bright side, even if Good Pie isn’t good, it will never be as bad as Prince St. Pizza at Durango (also owned by Station Casinos), so there’s that. We are not a pizza snob. Trust us on this one.

As for Federal Donuts & Chicken, it, too, wasn’t great. Federal closes Jan. 2, 2026 after just two years of operation.

Randy’s Donuts is a known quantity. They tried a location in the former Donut Bar space in the Tony @ Carson building, but that pooch was scrod due to its awkward location.
Randy’s Donuts is best known for its bigass doughnut sign which has appeared in numerous movies and TV shows.

In other Red Rock dining news we have been too busy to write about, Leoncito closed after just two years of operation. It will be replaced with Hearthstone Kitchen & Cellar. If that name is familiar, it’s because that restaurant shuttered to make way for (wait for it) Leoncito.
If you missed that news, it’s because of (wait for it) misdirection!

Anyway, if you don’t stray from The Strip, you will never check these places out, but you should. Red Rock is a locals joint, but elevated. Red Rock is the casino all the other locals casinos are trying to emulate. You don’t think Suncoast would have a high limit slot room or steakhouse (William B’s) if Red Rock didn’t, do you?
Even Rampart has a high limit slot area now.
Dotty’s is going to get one any minute now, just you wait.
If you know, you know.
Anyway, it’s hard to go wrong with pizza and doughnuts, even in the same meal.
This is Vegas; we don’t live by society’s rules.
While you’re at Red Rock, try the Nielsen’s Frozen Custard. Tip a buck and you’ll get a substantially larger portion. You’re welcome.
