- Special UFC event planned for White House front lawn next summer
- Event moved to June because of logistical issues
- McGregor again expresses interest to return to the Octagon for the event
Details are starting to come in for the UFC White House event coming up next summer to help celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

5,000 Seat Stadium
U.S. President Donald Trump is a big UFC fan, has attended multiple events live, and asked UFC CEO and President Dana White in July to put together an elite card for a live event to be held on the lawn of the White House.
White went on Fox News last night to reveal new renderings for the event, which showed the Octagon on the lawn, White House in the background, surrounded by under 5,000 seats.
“My vision for this thing is we have this big arch, with the lighting grid, because what I want is the White House on the back, and when the fight goes around to the other side, you’ll see the Washington Monument,” said White.
McGregor Versus Chandler Main Card?
There’s also going to be a viewing party in a park, with multiple TV screens, that can fit 85,000 people, with a stage, music, so people can bring blankets, lay around on the grass and watch the fights.
“It’s going to take over Washington, DC,” White said. “It is an incredible opportunity, not only for the fans, for the sport, and for the fighters.”
White said the UFC event is part of Trump’s desire to bring more people to visit the White House.
Weigh-In At Lincoln Memorial
UFC stars like Conor McGregor and Jon Jones, who had just retired from the sport when Trump made his announcement last July, have both said they want to fight in the event.
McGregor is a possibility, although with the Irishman these days you never know whether it’s a branding play to keep his name in the headlines to sell whisky or boost runs for political office in his native Ireland.
This is what he told Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade this week: “I am on it. Michael Chandler and myself have done the show Ultimate Fighter. We have a good back and forth. He’s a good, tough guy. The Mac is excited to come back for sure.”
White: McGregor Is “Motivated”
Chandler went on Fox host Laura Ingraham’s show later yesterday and said this: “This will be an experience we will never see again, fighting at the White House. It’s going to be absolutely spectacular on America’s birthday no less. One thing is for sure – expect the unexpected. When you got Dana White and Donald Trump, they have promotional brains behind it, then expect the unexpected. Nothing is impossible for these gentlemen.
“Conor and I have history. I am the opponent he wants. He is the opponent I want. That would be a heck of a main event for UFC White House. You’ll have all the build-up to the fight, you’re talking about 250 years of this great nation of ours, America’s birthday, July at the White House. This has all of the ingredients needed to be the biggest fight in UFC history.”
Event Moved to June
According to reporting, the event was originally scheduled to be held July 4 but had to be moved in June because of logistical issues.
Weigh-ins are going to take place at the Lincoln Memorial.
White said he has been talking regularly with McGregor and didn’t seem to rule out the possibility of McGregor fighting at the event.
“We’ll build the greatest card of all time for the White House fight,” he said. “And Conor and I have been talking consistently. He wants this fight bad. And when you get to a level that Connor is, you gotta find things in life that motivate you. In the White House card has definitely motivated Conor McGregor.”
McGregor hasn’t fought in the UFC Octagon since breaking his leg in a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. He was supposed to make his comeback against Chandler at UFC 303 in June 2024 but had to pull out weeks before because of an injured toe. McGregor has lost three of his last four UFC fights.
