Tool drummer Danny Carey told the YouTube channel Spiral Out that his alt-metal band has “been talking” to Las Vegas Sphere executives about a stint in 2027 “because I think we’re the perfect band for that.”

The Sphere never confirms future headliners until their contracts are locked in and they’re ready to officially announce them. Fortunately, the same policy does not apply to the potential headliners.

Carey went on to say that “the preparation” required to bring a massive Sphere residency from concept to opening night “is pretty intense,” as is the cheddar.

“It’s a very expensive endeavor, and it takes a while to get into the black,” he said. “I think [you have to play] a few shows before you make any money.”

Tool, which formed in LA in 1990, is known for songs such as “Sober” and “Schism.”

The band has released five albums, the last of which, “Fear Inoculum,” was released on Aug. 30, 2019. It would plan the residency around its sixth album, which it’s recording this year.

More Unintentional Cardi B Vegas Virality

Cardi B lived up to the name of her headlining tour, “Little Miss Drama,” when it played T-Mobile Arena on Friday the 13. While performing the song “Thotiania,” the rapper lost her balance and tumbled backwards off a chair.

The crowd’s collective gasp turned into cheering when, like a pro, she quickly recovered and thrusted her hips from the floor alongside her shirtless male dancers.

After finishing the song, she turned the flub into a joke about her ongoing public feud with the Department of Homeland security.

“That was the government!” she shouted.

It was the second unintentional viral moment Cardi B created in Las Vegas, following the infamous 2023 concert at Drai’s Beachclub during which she launched her wireless microphone into an audience member’s head after she threw a drink in her face.

The show promises a night of wall‑to‑wall throwbacks, from Bay Area hyphy staples like “Tell Me When To Go,” “Choices,” and “Blow the Whistle,” to crunk‑era classics like “Salt Shaker” and “Wait (The Whisper Song).”

Expect bass. Expect singalongs. Expect at least one person to throw out their back trying to recreate a move they retired in 2007.
