Powerball Players in Delaware Should Check Their Tickets After Local Jackpot Win

Powerball players in Delaware who purchased tickets for the lottery’s drawing on Monday, April 6, should take a close look at their numbers after the jackpot hit in The First State.

The winning numbers for the April 6 Powerball were 7, 24, 37, 42, 57, and the red Powerball was 5.

A single ticket, sold in Delaware, matched the six drawn numbers to win the estimated jackpot of $231 million. The one-time cash option is valued at $104.9 million.

The prizes are before a 37% federal tax and 6.6% allocation for Delaware. If the winner opts for the lump sum, the net payout would come to approximately $59.2 million. The payout of the annuity, disbursed over 29 years, would come to $131.4 million.

Winning Details

The Delaware Lottery had not released a statement on the Powerball win as of 9:30 am this morning.

Winning lottery tickets in Delaware must be redeemed within one year of the drawing. Wins over $5,000 must be redeemed at the Delaware Lottery Office in Dover.

While Delaware is home to iGaming and online sports betting, lottery tickets can only be purchased in person at a lottery retailer. Since the Delaware Lottery has not yet issued a release on the April 6 win, it’s unknown where the winning ticket was sold.

Lottery rules in Delaware allow winners of all prize levels to remain anonymous.

The jackpot ticket wasn’t the only big win last night. The Powerball result for April 6 also included a ticket that matched all five white balls but not the red Powerball to grab the lottery’s second-best prize of $1 million.

However, the play purchased the optional $1 add-on Power Play to double their payout to $2 million after the Power Play landed on 2X. The $2 million prize was sold in Texas.

Eight tickets matched four white balls and the Powerball to win $50,000. Another five that hit the Match 4 + PB with the Power Play to double their windfalls to $100,000.

A total of 415,213 Powerball tickets won some sort of prize, but 406,231 of the wins won $8 or less.

Mega Millions Reaches $100M 

With Powerball hitting, the jackpot resets to $20 million for the Wednesday drawing. Mega Millions presents a larger top prize, with the advertised jackpot for tonight’s drawing at $100 million ($44.7 million cash).

Powerball and Mega Millions are off to fast starts in 2026, as the jackpots have now hit five times. Powerball has hit three times, and Mega Millions twice. The largest prize was a Mega Millions jackpot that hit during the March 10 drawing, worth $536 million.
