A tweet posted Wednesday evening by a senior Polymarket intern indicates the company will soon launch one-minute crypto prediction markets and that could be followed by the long awaited debut of the native Polymarket token.

Last October, Polymarket CMO Matthew Modabber confirmed the derivatives exchange will launch its own cryptocurrency, likely under the ticker “POLY” and that there will be an airdrop. A previous regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) also stirred hope and speculation the prediction operator, which is already among the most crypto-centric in the industry, would launch a native digital currency.

The intern did not give a timeline for launch of POLY. Polymarket is one of the largest event contract platforms in the world.

More Signs the Polymarket Token Could Soon Debut

While it’s not clear when Polymarket will brings its native cryptocurrency to market, signs abound that the launch could occur over the near-term.

Those include filings made last week with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for “POLY” and “$POLY.” Tickers with dollar signs are used to discuss various securities, including digital currencies, on social media platforms such as X.

CoinMarketCap.com, a popular crypto data and news source, already has a POLY placeholder page up, potentially signaling it’s readying for debut of the token. Community sentiment is 91% bullish on POLY, confirming there’s widespread enthusiasm for the yet-to-launch asset.

“This page is a placeholder for the eventual Polymarket token. No further details are available at the moment. Please refer to the official Polymarket resources for future updates,” according to CoinMarketCap.

Rivals Offering Markets on POLY Launch

The prediction markets industry is young, but it’s become clear over its evolution that companies will post markets tied to goings on with rivals and that’s happening with Polymarket and POLY.

For example, Opinion Labs, which isn’t available to users in the US, and Predict.fun, described as the “BNB-native prediction market,” are offering yes/no contracts on when the Polymarket token will be officially released.

On both platforms, there’s a higher percentages of “yes” bets on the cryptocurrency launching at some point in the third quarter with those percentages rising on December contracts indicating traders and bettors believe POLY will debut before the end of 2026.
