- Bettors are pulling for the Seahawk so far
The American Gaming Association (AGA) has released its annual estimate on how much Americans will wager on Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8 and the number is a whopper.

AGA said that Americans will bet a record $1.76 billion legally on Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA. Game time is 6:30 p.m. EST. Last year for Super Bowl LIX, AGA had that projection at $1.39 billion.
NFL Betting: Year’s Biggest Betting Event
“No single event brings fans together like the Super Bowl, and this record figure shows just how much Americans enjoy sports bettingas part of the experience,” said Bill Miller, AGA President and CEO. “By choosing legal, regulated sportsbooks, fans are having fun while supporting a safe and responsible market.”
The AGA also used the Super Bowl as an opportunity to release a study that underlines what it says are risks inherent in sports event contracts available in prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi. The research was generated from an online survey Dec. 16-31, among 503 active sports event contract bettors and 523 sportsbook bettors.
The AGA said the research shows that when sports betting is marketed as an investment consumers start to misunderstand both the nature of the activity and responsible gaming tools available to them.
AGA Shines Spotlight on Prediction Markets
According to the study, 78% of sports event contract bettors believe state regulators are there to help them resolve disputes on the platform, which is not the case, since prediction markets operate beyond sports betting regulatory frameworks. Also, sports event bettors are three times more likely than sportsbook bettors to frame their wagering as an investment (28% compared to 9% of sportsbook users).
Also, the study revealed that 28% of sports event contract bettors said responsible gambling tools were easy to find on their platform, compared to 58% who wager on regulated sportsbooks.
AGA supports licensed, regulated sportsbook operators, advocating for fair policies, helping them thrive in a strong, trustworthy market.
Betting Lines
On the wagering front for next weekend’s big game, it’s been heavy traffic on the Seahawks so far, in pretty much all markets, said Adrian Horton, Sr. Director, North American Sports Trading, theScore Bet.
Not just spread and moneyline, but at the top of all our TD scorer and player prop markets too,” he said. “Coming off of the conference championships, bettors are clearly backing Seattle to have a big day.”
As of today, 69% of bets, 74.7% of handle is on Seahawks (-4.5, opened -3.5), 58.3% of bets, 64.1% of handle is on Seahawks ML (-225), 63.8% of bets, 40.1% of handle is on Under (45.5, opened 46.5).
It’s much the same story at BetMGM, where the ML is currently Seahawks -235, Patriots +195. The current spread is Seahawks -4.5, Pats +4.5.
“In the biggest event of the year, bettors are pulling for the Seahawks while the book hopes for a low scoring affair with minimal touchdowns,” said Christian Cipollini, Trading Manager. “Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Seattle’s Defense/Special Teams finding paydirt have become bad results for the book right now. While there’s still some time before the game, it looks like the game and futures market will be rewarding to bettors if the Seahawks cover the game and win outright.”
