Few industries are immune to the evolution of artificial intelligence, and AI is unquestionably playing an emerging role in the global gaming industry.

AI is now powering sports betting odds, customer-tailored incentives and promotions, and helping gaming companies better understand their data and business prospects.

Sportradar, a Sweden-based gaming tech firm that provides business-to-business sports betting and iGaming solutions, disseminates real-time sports data, and is a leading integrity monitor, thinks AI can also help reduce gambling addiction.

Today, Sportradar announced the official launch of Bettor Sense, an AI-powered solution that the firm believes will “revolutionize” player protection in the sports betting and online casino industries around the world. Bettor Sense allows online sports bettors and iGaming players to participate in a personalized, proactive, data-driven approach to responsible gambling.

Sportradar says Bettor Sense, which was developed in partnership with Innosuisse, the Switzerland government’s so-called “innovation agency,” and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, can detect the early warning signs of problem gambling and irrational play.

Brazil Debut

Bettor Sense debuted today in Brazil, a country where legal, regulated online sports betting and iGaming commenced only last year. Bettor Sense is now available to online bettors participating via the BETesporte platform.

This partnership with BETesporte marks an important milestone for Sportradar’s ongoing mission to help shape secure and sustainable sports betting and iGaming industries. BETesporte is taking a proactive step in embracing responsible gaming as a core part of its business. We are confident this will be the first of many partnerships, as the market increasingly recognizes the value of using data and technology to protect end users and strengthen compliance,” said Tom Mace, Sportradar’s senior vice president of integrity and regulatory services.

Bettor Sense continuously learns through its AI component and assesses each sports bettor and/or iGaming customer in real-time with a historical risk rating. Sportradar says the responsible gaming tool has proprietary technology “grounded in behavioral research” that allows operators to act quickly when tipped off about a customer who is perhaps betting in an atypical fashion.

Bettor Sense can then provide players whose betting behaviors have changed with personalized interventions.

AI Embrace

In June, Casino.org reported that Sportradar is the most AI-advanced gaming company in the industry.

In addition to Bettor Sense, the firm is designing an AI-powered assistant for sports bettors to build customized bets through both type and voice prompts. Sportradar is also using AI to automate real-time data aggregation across the thousands of sporting events and games it monitors daily.

Sportradar investors have liked the AI news, as well as the company’s recent financials. Traded on the NASDAQ, shares of SRAD are up 35% over the past six months. Year to date, things are even better, with the stock price up north of 60%.

Sportradar’s early investors included the likes of billionaires Mark Cuban and Michael Jordan. The NFL also has an equity position in the Swiss business.
