A year after last updating its proposal, Bally’s Corp. on Sunday revealed a new rendering and timeline for the Las Vegas casino resort it says it intends to build adjacent to the stadium currently under construction for the former Oakland A’s on the site of the imploded Tropicana.

The Rhode Island-based casino company says it will transform its 26 acres of the 35-acre site into an entertainment district featuring a Bally’s casino, two hotel towers and a theater, plus retail, dining and other entertainment. The $2 billion, 33,000-capacity A’s ballpark will occupy the remaining 9 acres on the southeast corner of the property.
Bally’s said development is slated to begin in 2026, with some elements open in time for the first pitch of the 2028 MLB season — by which time the A’s claim they will occupy their new home. No estimate of the casino resort’s cost was provided.
“Bally’s Las Vegas represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to redefine the heart of the Strip,” Bally’s chair Soo Kim said in a statement.
What’s Being Proposed…
- a 56,000 square-foot casino floor with 1,500 slot machines, 75 table games and a separate 16,500 square-foot sportsbook
- two hotel towers, one with 1,800 rooms and the other with 1,200
- a three-level, 216,000 square-foot theater with 2,500 seats
- 500,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment
- an eight-level parking garage with 2,500 spaces and connections to the stadium, in addition to 2,500 parking spaces elsewhere on site

Bally’s said the complex will rise above street level, with a central hub accessible via escalators, elevators and pre-existing pedestrian walkways from the Excalibur and MGM Grand. A 9-acre plaza will serve as ballpark’s entryway, and a 14,800 square-foot Vegas loop station will eventually open on site.
Designing the project is Marnell Architecture, which also helped design the Mirage, Bellagio and Wynn and Encore. (The company’s president, Tony A. Marnell II, is the “M” in M Resort, which he designed and developed.) Real estate services firm JLL will lease the retail and dining space.
“With world-class partners like JLL and Marnell, and with the arrival of Major League Baseball, we are not just building an integrated resort, we are creating a landmark destination that unites sports, entertainment, dining and hospitality on a scale only Las Vegas can deliver,” Kim said.
The land is owned by Gaming and Leisure Properties (GLP), which leased it to Bally’s for $10.5 million annually. GLP gifted the A’s the 9 acres it will use.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Clark County commissioners will discuss the A’s stadium development agreement on October 8 and could vote on its approval.
