Plaza Expands Free Fireworks Schedule for 2025
At least one Las Vegas casino is upping its “free things to do” game in 2025.
Downtown’s Plaza Hotel & Casino will put on a free fireworks show every Friday night at 9:15 p.m. from May 2 to Sep. 26, 2025.
We are not personally a fireworks person, but they draw crowds, and it’s refreshing somebody’s trying to give visitors something fun to check out without dinging them for an “Eye Candy Fee.”

The fireworks at Plaza will run 22 weeks this year. You might call it a pyrotechnic residency.
The best places to view the fireworks are on Main Street in front of Plaza, the hotel’s pool deck, the patio at Oscar’s Steakhouse at Plaza or Legacy Club at Circa.
Bonus scoop: Circa has plans to renovate the downstairs entrance to Legacy Club. More details to come.
One time, we were watching the fireworks from Oscar’s and this happened.
“Go up on the roof!” they said. “You missed the real fireworks,” we replied, with a sassy attitude despite the fact it was pure luck. @PlazaLasVegas pic.twitter.com/KyE0Kqpkus

Plaza’s footing the bill for the fireworks and they’re intended to get all eyes on Plaza, the displays benefit neighboring casinos and Fremont Street Experience as a destination, despite the fact Plaza isn’t part of the Fremont Street Experience.
What is the cost of putting on the weekly fireworks displays at Plaza? The cost is about $15,000 each for the 22 Friday shows, or more than $330,000 for the 22 shows. Plaza’s New Year’s Eve fireworks show costs about $50,000.
On fireworks nights, it’s best to arrive early to grab your spot. Because of the Viva Vision digital display on Fremont Street, the fireworks can’t be viewed from Fremont. That means everyone moves to Main Street and it can get congested.
Don’t be late. The Friday shows are about 4.5 minutes long. They could be longer in duration, but a denser show (more “shells” or “shots” going off in the given timeframe, as opposed to individual bursts) is more intense and crowd-pleasing, according to Plaza officials. If you’re a casino, you also don’t want people gawking too long, monetization comes from gambling and dining and drinking inside.

Fair warning: Following the fireworks show, the line at Pinkbox Doughnuts at Plaza stretches roughly 14 miles.
Fireworks are a hoot and Las Vegas needs some ogle-based spectacle following the demise of the Mirage volcano and the drone show at Atomic Golf.
The good news is Plaza isn’t in a residential area, so not too many dogs will be traumatized by all the pew-pew.
Look forward to more announcements from Plaza, including a move of its Pop Up Pizza to the hotel’s former Brightside space. There’s also some food court news looming (including a partnership with a name burger brand) and other potential changes in the works in the live music realm.
Plaza is also retooling its table games area and the red felt is sexier than 1989 Elle Macpherson.
