Las Vegas Season of “Queer Eye” is on Netflix

The new season of “Queer Eye,” the life makeover show, is now available on Netflix and we are not bitter at all.

We were personally in the running to appear on the show, but it didn’t work out due to a “scheduling issue.”

Oh, well, the season features a lot of Las Vegas and others who need more help with their mom jeans than we do, apparently. Oh, well.

Even if you play for the other team, it’s difficult to not love this one.

“Queer Eye,” which some will remember as “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” features five gay men who are experts in various areas of human existence. If the show were still “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” we’re pretty sure we’d have new patio furniture right now.

This is the official description of the show’s ninth season (the original series ran for 100 episodes and five seasons): “Nine times the charm! This season, Queer Eye brings its transformative magic to the iconic city of Las Vegas, where the Fab Five, now joined by interior designer Jeremiah Brent, meet a fresh group of individuals ready for a life-changing experience. From a former showgirl struggling to regain her confidence to a dedicated librarian in need of a change, watch as the Fab Five light up Sin City and transform the lives of their heroes in spectacular Vegas style.”

The cast of the Las Vegas season includes Jonathan Van Ness, Antoni Porowski, Tan France and Karamo Brown. Jeremiah Brent is new to the show, just in time for the Las Vegas installment. Brent follows in the footsteps of Bobby Berk and, naturally, there’s some requisite drama.

As always, the Vegas version of “Queer Eye” features lots of moving transformations and tears. We were so ready to convincingly cry non-stop during our episode.

The season kicks off with an overhaul of a former Las Vegas showgirl, of course.

A highlight of the season happens in episode three, as the “Queer Eye” crew goes to work on beloved grouchy comedy-magician John van der Put, otherwise known as “Piff the Magic Dragon,” a headliner at Flamingo Las Vegas.

Spoiler alert: Van der Put proposes to his longtime girlfriend, Jade Simone. We thought they were already married, but show business!

Not to bring the party down, but on “Queer Eye,” Piff’s dog Mr. Piffles was still with us. He has since passed. Mr. Piffles, that is. We’re pretty sure the Magical Playground at Flamingo was the result of the “Queer Eye” show.

Yes, Mr. Piffles was cloned.

Anyway, “Queer Eye” is always a hoot, however orchestrated and cloying certain elements might be.

Could “Queer Eye” do another season in Las Vegas? We would love to see that happen, and not just because our man cave looks a little like a scene from “Godzilla.” The show is just a perfect fit for Las Vegas.

Godzilla
This actually looks quite a bit better than our actual home.

Please come back, “Queer Eye.”

We can pretend to be a former showgirl or a librarian or a dragon. We can act like we embrace change and enjoy having our hair zhuzhed. We have acted. We almost made it into Juilliard back in the day. It wasn’t a lack of talent. It was a “scheduling issue”!

There’s a really good chance you have never seen the word “zhuzhed” spelled out, but that’s why we get the big bucks. You have definitely heard it before.

Seriously, though, we would actually like to learn to cook something other than Stouffer’s French Bread Pizza, despite it being reliably delicious.

We’re ready when you are, Fab Five.
