Kenny Chesney Nabs Sphere Residency, Backstreet Boys Rumored To Be Next
Kenny Chesney, whomever that might be, has announced a 12-date residency at Sphere Las Vegas. The shows run from May 22 to June 14, 2025.
But that’s not the scoop! There was a news release about that. A reliable source tells us exclusively Backstreet Boys are set for a Sphere residency following Chesney’s run.
Why is a rumor bigger news than actual news? 1) We are familiar with several Backstreet Boys songs, and 2) country music has been used to torture detainees at Guantanamo Bay detention camp. ‘Nuff said.

Perfunctory Kenny Chesney dates: May 22, 24, 25, 28, 30 31 and June 4, 6, 7, 11, 13, 14.
Other acts in the scattershot collection of Sphere residencies: U2, Eagles, Dead & Company, Phish and some EDM thing (Anyma).
That makes Chesney the first country artist to give Sphere a go.
A question: Can Kenny Chesney sell 17,600 tickets 12 times in a row? We are not a country music person, but no.
We’re more optimistic about Backstreet Boys. This residency hasn’t been announced yet, but our sources are next level goated and possibly clutch.
After Kenny Chesney, word is Backstreet Boys is next at Sphere.

Backstreet Boys comprises Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, and cousins Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson.
Does anyone have issues with how “comprises” sounds in sentences like that? Honestly, “is made up of” needs to get a better agent. Ditto “includes.”
We have published 3,112 stories on this blog and all but one of them managed to avoid the use of “comprises.” We mentioned how awkward it is in that story, too. That was in 2020, so it’s not like we harp on this constantly.
The Backstreet Boys performed four shows in Las Vegas in April 2022 as part of their “DNA World Tour.” Those shows were at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
The group also had a residency, “Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life,” at Zappos Theater (which became Bakkt Theater, and it’s now PH Live, the default name when the venue doesn’t have a naming rights deal in place) at Planet Hollywood from 2017 to 2018.
Sphere has consistently delivered incredible visuals for its resident performers, from which Kenny Chesney and Backstreet Boys will benefit, we trust.
Sphere is deep in the red, and its residencies are all over the place when it comes to genres, but it’s a relief they have anything planned other than IMAX movies.
It was our honor to ruin Sphere’s surprise by sharing rumors of a U2 concert film and $80 million “The Wizard of Oz” adaptation set for the $2.3 billion venue. Both rumors were later confirmed.
Las Vegas continues to deliver on its promise to be the entertainment capital of the world, one truck, beer, ‘Murica, dog and “I Want It That Way” at a time.
