Confirmed: Backstreet Boys Announce Sphere Residency

The ultimate throwback boy band, Backstreet Boys, has confirmed some scoop we shared back in mid-January: The group is slated for a residency at Sphere.

The nine shows happen: July 11-13, 18-20, 25-27, 2025.

Are we thrilled we broke the news first? Yes. Are we thrilled about having to say there’s no way in hell Backstreet Boys fills an 18,000-seat venue for nine shows? Not really, but we damned well said it, anyway.

Tickets start at just $85, so there’s that.

Do we report every Las Vegas residency? No. Do we report residencies where we can humblebrag? Definitely. Here’s our Jan. 16, 2025 Tweet.

Are we resentful our scoop is taken for granted? Probably.

Did we avoid mentioning we also broke the news about U2 and “Wizard of Oz” coming to Sphere? No.

Should we be in better shape given the fact we run circles around the Las Vegas Review-Journal? Absolutely.

Are we asking all these questions to fluff up the word count of our story? You betcha.

The Backstreet Boys were formed in 1993. The members are AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell.

How they are all still alive, we have no idea.

The bands residency is called “Into the Millennium,” which is odd, because it sort of draws attention to the fact the band’s peak was a quarter century ago. That’s actually a reference to the group’s massively successful 1999 album, “Millennium.”

Hey, you have to call it something. “Backstreet Middle-Aged Men Are Back” didn’t have the same ring to it. The guys are now in their late 40s. Hey, bills never stop billing.

A.I. is getting better, our jokes are getting worse. It all sort of balances out.

Backstreet Boys did have an epic cameo on “This is the End,” though.

As mentioned, the group rose to fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s with hits like “I Want It That Way,” “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)” and “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).”

You can find out more about the Backstreet Boys residency at Sphere at the official Web site.

Does Backstreet Boys have a lot of fans? Yes.

Are they in for a slog trying to sell 162,000 tickets? Yes.

We were wrong about Kenny Chesney and his Sphere ticket sales? Dramatically.

Is there a reason we waited until the end of our story to mention we got something wrong? Oh, yes. Nobody reads this far. This is where we could confess to having 16 illegitimate children by four different women in three Third World countries and nobody would notice!

“Could confess.”

This is not our first rodeo.

Update (2/14/25): Three more dates have been added to the Backstreet Boys residency, Aug. 1-3, 2025. It’s unclear how “popular demand” has been determined given the fact tickets aren’t on sale yet, but good luck with that.
