The Multi-State Lottery Association, the nonprofit group that runs Powerball on behalf of the interstate lottery game’s 48 participating member jurisdictions, will debut a new nationwide game this Sunday, Feb. 22. The draw product is called Millionaire for Life, and each draw gives players a chance to win up to $1 million a year for life.

Winning a million dollars a year for life is the jackpot of a lifetime,” said Tom Seaver, the senior director of the Colorado Lottery, who is heading up the oversight of the new game. “Millionaire for Life adds a strong new option to lottery game portfolios while giving players more choice in how and when they play for these life-changing prizes.”

Millionaire for Life is debuting in 30 states and the District of Columbia. Participating jurisdictions include Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Central Time Zone Lottery Drawing

Unlike Powerball and Mega Millions, which are drawn at 10:59 pm and 11:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST), Millionaire for Life will be drawn nightly in the Central Standard Time zone at 10:15 pm. CST is an hour behind EST.

Millionaire for Life is a $5 draw game with odds of winning the top prize at 1 in more than 22.9 million. A second-tier prize of $100,000 a year for life comes with odds of 1 in about 5.73 million.

Millionaire for Life is similar to Powerball in that the game draws a total of six balls. Five white balls are drawn before the green Millionaire Ball. The white balls number from 1 to 58. There are five Millionaire Balls.

There are nine ways to win, with the smallest prize being $8 (net $3) for matching two white balls or a white ball and the Millionaire Ball. The odds of winning $8 are as short as 1 in 15.65.

The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 8.46. As with all lottery products from the Multi-State Lottery Association, a portion of every ticket remains with the host lottery that sold the play to support public programs and services.

Powerball Games

Millionaire for Life is the Multi-State Lottery Association’s sixth game in addition to Powerball, Lotto America, 2by2, Double Play, and Jackpot USA. All but Jackpot USA are draw games. Jackpot USA is an instant-play game generated through the lottery terminal.

Total state lottery sales in 2025 were estimated at $109.4 billion. That represented a 3.6% year-over-year decrease.
