  • The Powerball jackpot hit in Arkansas on Dec. 24 and March 2
  • The March 2 winner won the jackpot worth $250.8 million

The Powerball jackpot has hit again in Arkansas. Following the historic Dec. 24 jackpot won by a single Powerball ticket worth $1.817 billion, another lucky player in Arkansas has struck it rich.

Powerball reports that a single ticket sold in the Razorback State matched the six numbers for the lottery’s March 2 drawing. The two Arkansas Powerball jackpots hit within a span of only 68 days.

The March 2 Powerball numbers were 2, 17, 18, 38, 62, and the red Powerball was 20. The Power Play multiplier was 2X.

The holder of the winning ticket in Arkansas has the choice of $250.8 million paid out over 29 years or a one-time lump sum of $118 million. Both amounts are before federal and state taxes.

We couldn’t be more excited that another jackpot-winning Powerball ticket was sold in Arkansas,” said Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Executive Director Sharon Strong. “We’re always happy to see another player land a life-changing prize, knowing that retailers, students, and Arkansans as a whole will benefit from the win.”

The cash option would come to approximately $69.7 million after the federal government taxes its 37% cut and Arkansas claims its 3.9% share. The annuity would come to $149.5 million after the 30 payments were completed.

Arkansas Lottery Winners’ Identities

Arkansas law gives the winner of a major jackpot like Powerball and Mega Millions 180 days from the draw date to come forward and redeem their prize. State statute additionally affords major lottery winners, defined as winning more than $500,000, the right to remain anonymous for three years.

“If a lottery winner who wins more than five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) requests that his or her records or information filed with the Office of the Arkansas Lottery remain confidential, the records or information filed with the Office of the Arkansas Lottery shall be treated as confidential and are exempt from public disclosure. Records or information filed with the Office of the Arkansas Lottery and treated as confidential shall become public after three (3) years,” the law reads.

The winner of the Christmas Eve Powerball jackpot took advantage of the anonymity privilege. As such, the recipient of the $834.9 million cash, which was reduced to $493.5 million after taxes, won’t be known until late 2028.

The Arkansas Lottery anonymity clause is to allow winners to remain private as they deal with their newfound wealth.

The March 2 Powerball jackpot win was the second time the jackpot has been won this year. A player in North Carolina won a $209.3 million jackpot during the Jan. 21 drawing.

Acts of Kindness Lead to $1 Million Win

In Maryland, a man named Ryan won a $1 million scratch-off after he allowed a woman to go before him in the checkout line at Walmart. Keeping his last name anonymous, Ryan says he let a woman jump ahead of him at the store located at 407 George Clauss Boulevard in Severn.

As a token of her appreciation, the woman handed him two $10 scratch-off tickets. Ryan said one of those tickets won $50. Ryan decided to use the money to purchase two $25 scratchers for the Maryland Lottery’s $1,000,000 Crossword. One of those plays won for $1 million.

Ryan says the money will pay for his forthcoming wedding.
