- The Illinois Pick 4 recently came up 4-4-4-4
- The straight outcome made thousands of winners
- A woman claims she prayed for a lottery win and won
The Illinois Lottery had a most fortunate Pick 4 outcome last week when the game’s four drawn balls were 4-4-4-4. The Fireball number was 2.

The Illinois Lottery Pick 4 allows players to win in a variety of ways.
The “straight” option, which requires players to match the four drawn numbers in the exact order, comes with the richest possible prizes. Pick 4 includes 10 possible numbers for each of the four drawn balls, from 0 to 9.
During the Pick 4 drawing on Wednesday, August 6, the numbers came up quad 4s. The last time that happened was in June 2024.
This exciting number combination sparked a statewide windfall. Nearly 3,200 winning tickets were sold for the drawing, with more than 2,700 players taking home a cool $2,500. The largest prize of $30K was won by an iLottery player,” a release from the Illinois Lottery read.
A total of 2,725 Pick 4 tickets opted for the 4-4-4-4 straight combo on a 50-cent play.
Statewide Bonanza
Last Wednesday’s quad 4s outcome made thousands of winners. Many lottery players play the 4-4-4-4 combo for a variety of reasons, from making their ticket players easy to remember to simple superstition that the Pick 4 game will, at some point, turn up fours.
The 4-4-4-4 play is likely the most common play in Pick 4. The 4-4-4-4 outcome made 2,725 tickets that played the quad 4s instant winners — another 460 Pick 4 plays won by purchasing the optional $0.50 Fireball.
The Illinois Lottery said retailers would receive a 1% commission bonus based on the prize amount of each winning ticket sold at their location.
The August 6 Pick 4 evening draw made 3,185 winners at all prize levels. During Sunday night’s evening drawing, when 1-7-6-3 came up, there were only 810 winning plays.
The odds of a Pick 4 ticket matching the four drawn numbers in a row are one in 10K.
Pick 4 is drawn twice a day, with sales cutoff times at 12:35 pm and 9:15 pm CDT.
Founded in 1974, the Illinois Lottery supports K-12 public education. The Common School Fund, the lottery’s primary beneficiary that receives almost 99% of the Illinois Lottery’s proceeds, has received more than $25 billion since 1985.
Praying for Fortune
In other lottery news, a woman in South Carolina told the state lottery she “prayed” for a major win. Her spiritual wish was fulfilled.
I was riding down the road, and I prayed for a lottery win,” the woman, who wished to remain anonymous, told the South Carolina Education Lottery. “That’s exactly what I got.”
The woman said she pulled over along Bush River Road, where she purchased a $20 scratch-off ticket for the lottery’s “$2,000,000 Millionaire” game. She overcame the 1 in 1,536,000 odds of winning one of the two $2 million prizes.
“It’s a dream come true,” the woman added. The City Fuel & Food gas station received a $20K commission for selling the lucky scratcher.
Big Games, Big Prizes
Mega Millions is still seeking its first $1 billion jackpot since the interstate lottery game revamped its basic ticket price from $2 to $5. The jackpot for Tuesday night’s drawing is $182 million.
Powerball has a richer prize for tonight at $501 million. The Powerball jackpot hasn’t been hit since May 31.
