- Former Met officers assaulted woman at Hippodrome Casino while off duty
- Sexual assault was filmed on casino CCTV, prosecutors told court
- Both men fired, given suspended sentences, curfews, and compensation orders
Two former London Metropolitan Police officers were handed suspended sentences Monday after admitting to sexually assaulting a woman in the city’s Hippodrome Casino.

Jerome Beasley, 43, and Luke Robinson, 40, were off duty when they repeatedly touched a woman’s breasts at The Rooftop Bar at the casino in the heart of London’s West End entertainment district. Both men were fired from “The Met” in January after they were charged with three counts of sexual assault each in relation to the assault, which was captured on the casino’s security video.
Brazen Assault
The court heard the officers were inebriated when they devised a method of comparing the size of their hands by cupping the woman’s breasts in full view of other drinkers, despite her protestations for them to stop, according to prosecutors.
“The two defendants subjected her to a sustained sexual assault by touching her breasts repeatedly,” prosecutor Mark Gadsden said. “The victim put her arms across her chest protectively.”
The woman, who was also squeezed on the buttocks during the incident, told the court the officers’ behavior left her “shocked and vulnerable” and added that she has been suffering PTSD and panic attacks since the assault.
They repeatedly touched me inappropriately without my consent,” she said in a victim impact statement. “You treated me as an object,” she added, addressing the defendants.
“You did not listen when I said stop. You continued to touch me again and again. I struggle to go out and enjoy myself. This has damaged my relationship with everyone.”
The officers changed their pleas to guilty just days before their trial. Beasley, a father of two, was given a 15-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. Robinson, also a father of two, was handed 13 months, also suspended for two years.
‘Offensive Behavior’
The court ordered both men to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work and 30 hours of rehabilitation activity, imposed an overnight curfew for five months, issued five-year restraining orders, and ordered each to pay £750 in compensation to the victim.
“This was misconduct by serving police officers who should set an example rather than disgracing themselves in the way you two did,” the judge said at the sentencing hearing. “Your behavior was of itself obviously offensive to all right-thinking people.
“There is, rightly, grave public concern at present concerning conduct of officers of the Metropolitan Police. The public is entitled to expect much better,” he added.
